1  Nuno felt wedding shawl in Felting: Completed Projects by doyouloveanapple on: August 23, 2010 10:08:03 PM
A good friend of mine is getting married next weekend, but unfortunately I live across the country now and won't be able to make it. I made this shawl for her. It's nuno felted merino over a light lavender silk.

Close up of the flowers:

It's hard to take pictures of yourself:

I was really inspired by glamourjunkie's (on Etys) really stunning work.

I'm really hoping to get everything done by this weekend. I have a few more supplies to pick up, and then a new technique to try out. Hopefully I get it all done and the new kitten my partner brought home doesn't get in the way too much!

I have to share proud new mommy photos:

Can't wait for more things to be posted to the gallery, what has already been posted is go great.

3  Re: June 2010 Birthday Swap - Discussion and Gallery in The Swap Gallery by doyouloveanapple on: July 16, 2010 05:01:01 PM
I finally received my package from Dharma Rebel and got around to take photos of the one from RobbinZombie.

RobbinZombie sent me a wonderful hanging squid mobile!

Close up of the suckers.

dharma_rebel made a delightful embroidery of sheep for my craft room! Unfortunately it came in a bubble wrap envelope, and that wasn't strong enough to protect the glass from the wrath of the postal service... eg. the glass broke.

Close up of the black sheep.

Thank you so much ladies! It was a wonderful birthday, and I LOVE both gifts.

4  Re: One Tiny Sea Creature in The Swap Gallery by doyouloveanapple on: June 29, 2010 07:54:32 PM
As promised, here are photos of the lovely octopus that Honeyd made me.

I'm totally in awe of her tiny knitting skills.

His tenticles have wire in them so they are bendy.

Also, his little suckers are made out of sequins!

Thanks again!

5  Re: Cat lovers swap gallery! in The Swap Gallery by doyouloveanapple on: January 27, 2010 01:12:48 PM
I received a HUGE box yesterday.

Ari snooping around.

The things for Ari: Some dangly feather toys, a knit crinkly tube (his favorite), a mitt with fleece to chase, a laser pointer, a few store bought toys, treats, a personalized bowl, and pipe cleaners!

A close up of the cute bowl:

Ari wouldn't let me take pictures without stealing things:

Here he is seconds later kicking the crap out of one of the toys:

The stuff for me: a pillow, tee shirt, really cute oven mitts, a figurine of a cat and kittens, a sign that says "what part of meow don't you understand,"  a bag with window pockets to show off my kitty, and sequins for my sequin obsession!

...and of course the best part... a big box and crinkly paper!

Thank you so much GrindHouseHussy19! we are going to have a lot of great play times with the stuff you sent.

Heh.. I think he is mostly joking when he says that. I'm pretty sure at this point it has become clear to him that this cat will never be better behaved! For example, here he is "helping" me bake.

I'm still here....still need to work on the swap!

I'm very sorry, gamemom42.

Here is a pic of Ari opening his Christmas presents.

Ooo pipecleaners, his favorite.

8  Homemade Naan! (and turnip curry) in Recipes and Cooking Tips by doyouloveanapple on: November 29, 2009 05:22:08 PM

I took a break from days of essay writing to make some home made nann. I love naan, but I've never made it at home before. I used this recipe: http://www.foodbuzz.com/recipes/594884-excellent-homemade-naan.

The dough getting ready for the oven:

It came out really well. Not quite as good at take-out, but better than the stuff from the grocery store. It's not quite chewy enough, and I think next time I will (read: my Kitchen Aid will) knead it for longer. I also didn't have a pizza stone, so I used an over turned cookie sheet, and it seemed to work pretty well.

Now I just have to stop myself from eating all 8 of them!

I made some turnip curry (http://www.bigoven.com/53542-Shelghum-Ka-Korma-%28Turnip-Curry%29-recipe.html) to eat with them. I had a turnip in the fridge and I'm not actually fond of turnips... this was better than usual, but still a turnip.

I love how smug he looks in his little hat!

This is what happens when I try to dress up Ari, he was going to be a lion for Halloween (he tried to eat it..)

Okay, Tygermane, we have the same cat in a different colour. It's so freaky that you have a Siamese cat named Ari too, who acts the same!

I think it's so funny how cats act like harnesses or collars weigh a million pounds. Ari has a little vest style harness (in pink, because when I was moving it's the only one they had in his size at the store, plus I raise a gender neutral child) for when we take plane rides. The little guy is like a ferret and can get out of any harness!

it looks like this (much like a pink mesh shirt):

If I had had time I would have just sewn one.. one that didn't make it look like (as my partner says) going to a disco.
