I love the fabric you chose, and the construction is excellent!  What a lucky mommy-to-be!

I love it!  The fabric is gorgeous - I'm going to Baltimore in a week and Ikea is on my "must do" list!!  Grin

Gorgeous!!  I pray to the IKEA Gods to bless me with a store nearby.  Nothing yet, but I'll keep trying!

Wow!  Thanks everyone for the sweet comments.  I'll see if I can answer some questions for you!  Grin

I found the fabric at Jo-Ann's in the red tag upholstery fabric.  It's pretty heavy fabric.  To get it to keep its shape I used fuseable peltex on the outside pieces.  The construction is basically a Jordy but I added the bow to the front panel.  The bow is all separate pieces - the "bow" part is a strip sewn together at the ends to make a circle, then a smaller tube is secured around the middle.  The tails are separate pieces hand sewn on and the bow was hand sewn and glued on top.  The black is narrow bias binding I attached to all of the pieces before assembly.

Not really a tutorial, but the basic construction is very simple - the bow is what makes it look "designer".

Thanks again!

I fell in love with the design of this Kate Spade bag, but the price tag is way out of my range.  I decided to make one myself!  I'm very happy with how it came out.  What do you think?

I love this! I had to make one for myself right away.  My bottom is a little wonky, but it will make a great lunch bag for work.

Very nice!  I get a lot of my hardware from old bags too.  I had to comment on this because my sister and I call each other seester too!  Grin

Very cute!  I love the fabric you used for the first one, and the shape is very nice.  I also like the you used recycled pieces for the handles.  Great job!  Grin
