KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: 1ST KNITTING PROJECT EVER!!!!

and one quick question: i want to do a simple hat, but i've heard that circular needles and DPN's are WAY harder to use than straights, is that true???
Nah, not at all! Well, maybe dpns, I've never used a pair of dpns in my life, I always use circs, for hats, socks, EVERYTHING. Anything you use dpns for, you can use circs for if you have a long enough, flexible cord my major problem is that i ended up with a sort of "seam" between all of the dpns... i tried so hard to pull my yarn tight between those stitches but there is still a gap... not sure why.
Everyone goes through this the first time they do a project in the round. There are a few ways you can fix it. Don't pull the first stitch tight on the next dpn, but the second. That tightens up the gap even though it seems counter-intuitive. Also, another thing is every few rounds on dpns you can transfer a few of the stitches over to a new dpn, that way you don't end up with "a seam" second of all, im a crocheter learning how to knit and it was suggested to me to use circulars instead of straights because you can do everything you do on straights with circulars and it feels less heavy and awkward. So I'd have to say circulars are not hard to use. BUT I've never made a hat and some hats require you have TWO sets of circulars which sound pretty crazy to me.
Some patterns may suggest you use two circulars but you can always use just one and Magic Loop it (google is your friend)! Two circs is just another method of knitting in the round, one that I despise by the way, all those needles in the way are not my cup of tea. Two needles max for me! Gosh, I feel like a wealth of information LOL

I'm no expert and someone might refute me, but it's been my experience in life that you can should try anything you darn well want, no matter if you're a beginner or an expert. How are you going to learn otherwise? Heh, first time I tried lace, I'd been knitting for 2 months (and not a lot). It didn't work out because I didn't understand the frogging thing like I do now, but I kept trying and now I can knit it, tink it, wrip it back, without tears only 10 months later I'm not spinning anything gorgeous, but I'm trying a little every day, and my hands are finally figuring out the roving is like taffy so I'm getting somewhere
