1  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Quick question from a newbie on: August 13, 2008 01:01:06 AM
I'm hoping some of you fabulous skilled sewers can help me with my question.  I have very (very very) little sewing experience, but whatever.  The only way to learn is to try.

So I've decided I want to make this rough patchwork thingamajig.  But I want one of those raised fabric/cord type seams between all the various patches.  In other words, I don't want perfect little side by side patches - I want this raised line, with visible stitching.
Here is a rough example of what I'm talking about:

You see that orange line running between all the patches?  That is what I want.

So how do I do that?  My best guess is that the patches are all sewn together (by machine or hand, it doesn't matter).  Then this orange cord(?) is handstitched on top.  But I feel I may be completely wrong.  Which is why I'm asking some experts for help, lol!

TIA!
2  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / Where to buy corkboard? on: August 06, 2008 03:55:18 PM
I have a frame I want to use to make a corkboard for my room.  But I have no idea where to buy corkboard that I can cut to fit in the oval shaped frame.  I thought it would be easy to find, yet I don't seem to see it anywhere.

Any suggestions?

TIA!
