After years of being to afraid to make pants I finally dove in. Mostly because I could find NOTHING I like in stores, and ready to wear never fits my figure anyways. So I decided to make some high waist jeans. But, I always hate how the fly adds bulk to my tummy, and I have been working to hard to get it flat to add bulk! So I threw the zip in the back which makes a much smoother foundation (and is a lot easier) Ok, enough jibber jabber, on to the pictures!



I love this red hat to much to not fit it in somewhere...


I was able to make them fit in the front so well by making a yoke type panel on the front. Otherwise I had pouchy crotch, and I'm not so down with that.


The seams look a little jank, but I was happy I got all the raw edges encased in the zipper.


These did take a minute to make, because all the seams were done with 2 straight seams, then an over cast. Otherwise they were pressed open and sewn flat. I need an overlock machine!


And just for fun, hair swooshes!

My girlfriends and I discovered we all have always wanted to be mermaids, but never got around to it (or just felt to fat!) So this year we made it happen. As soon as my slow ass friend gives me the pictures from Halloween night I will post them!

And here is Hallie, she hates to pose for pictures but wanders into mine...


I covered an old bra with non stretchy fabric, a bit of a trial. I pleated and pinned it to the front before tacking it down, and the back I made a case to slip the sides into. I added a few rows of elastic thread so it would scrunch up, this fabric had 0 stretch! The middle piece was an old clip on earring I threw on.


So to make the tail I made a super tight narrow skirt, with a mermaid flare. Then to the flare I added circle cascades I cut out of this fab sparkly fabric. They were just 3 rows of arches, but it took about 5 yards of fabric. Circle cascades are expensive but add such amazing movement.


I love this little star applique.


I left a slit up the back to walk, and added a few rows of elastic thread to really cinch it in to make that tail effect. I also put two cascades up the slit to give it a bit of a train.


That night I covered myself in gold shimmer and tried to summon Aphrodite or some other Goddess. I loved this costume so much I'm sure I will wear it again as soon as I have another costume party to attend!

So I have been sewing my ass off, because I lost half my ass. After doping 60 pounds I had no clothing, and an extremely hard to fit figure. What is a picky broad that hates the loosy goose shape all clothing seems to have nowadays to do? So I started making a lot more of my own stuff, paying special attention to fit. Here is what I got so far.

body suit and peg top skirt and scarf by me. Oh, and a peg top skirt is a skirt where the top is wider than the hem I also did it with french seams, which look amazing and so professional. Ok, enough back patting...


Sheer top by me, high waist shorts by me. I love the star buttons on the butt! There is also a zipper that runs up the whole side.

V neck crop top by me. These sailor pants kick so much ass. They are REAL navy sailor pants...and were a 38 regular. Ugh. So much cutting and tailoring later I have some indestructible wool wide leg pants. I can't wait to wear them to a gay bar.


giraffe print leggings by me. Only one seam up the middle, got to love that. Also, box tee by me. I'm having a huge tee shirt moment and have a few more just like this.

So my husband had never been to renn fair. And then some of his girl friends from work invited him and he realized that he would be a fool to turn down going to fair with a couple of hot chicks. So of course I had to make a new costume. This corset sewed up fairly easy in about a day. I wish I had used more boning but I thought I bought more than I did. To fix some of this problem the from panel is made out of the plastic from one of those accordion filing books. It worked quite well and kept it perfectly flat. On to the pictures!


It has a purple ruffle around the top to keep it a little interesting. I like to hand sew different things on every year to re use it but switch things up.

Awwww, this is the pirate costume that made me give him the time of day when we first met 

I will make another one I'm sure, maybe an over bust. This was just a pattern I banged out on paper, thank god my fashion schooling didn't go to waste I guess

Well I slapped purple over my pink today, making it all fab and iridescent-y looking. I used Chroma Silk in purple and magenta. This is withoutadoubt the best funky color line I have ever used. They even have a cotton candy pink (yay!) The down side? It is a professional color line, so if your not a licensed stylist you might have to sleep with one to get your hot little hands on some (But if you sleep with a hairstylist you may get your hair did too soooo, win win?) Anywho, on to the pictures!

I have a new love of high waist skirts. especially when they have ridiculous prints and are all poofy girly

Stripes! This I made out of some turquoise and gold butterfly print with some fushia floral print. Then finished it off with purple lace. Betsy Johnson was  the inspiration.


and this print reminds me or Ren and Stimpy....you remember the back grounds and such c'mon. Well I call it lunch.


Oh I love this one it has cowboys on it! Reminded me of a little boys curtains from the 50's or something.

So I had these 2 pairs of pants that were to big, and really boring....so pencil skirt time!

this was boring old brown pants...




this is hard to see but its a black skirt with a top I made out of an old sweatshirt and some trim (ignore garish bra)



and this dress was once an old pair of jeans I hacked off and fitted as a top. Then I found some remnants of knit jersey (god bless that stuff) and made an asymmetrical skirt to attach. I love this one so much because I always get stopped and asked about it 



So there ya go. Not everything is junk, and you can look fabulous on a dime and be green at the same time. Comments/ criticism appreciated!

I got this tattoo in November 07. Is was my first but far from my last. I went to my tattoo artist with the idea and he put it together and did an amazing job. The flowers are nasturtium's, my mother grew these for years and the always looked like faerie dresses when you turned them upside down. It says I gotta be me...because thats always kinda been how I am Im not good at pretending. But it came from a picture a friend of the family bought me when I was first born. It had a group of penguins in their tux and one in a Hawaiian shirt singing...I gotta be me!
How strange that penguin set the tone of my personality. SO without further ado!

 

ohhh I'm growing my hair out from damn near nothing. I'm pleased but I can't wait for my friend to have enough to throw some extensions in. And I'm dark for the first time in forever! Usually my hair looks like this   


oh how I miss my orange! It's just to much for my skin unless I keep it short short. Otherwise I look like a crazy Italian (maybe because I am?)
