Thanks  Smiley
She taught me how to sew on her old Janome, so in a way she's Roquel's grandmother too.

Artista83, sadly the fabric was just an unsewn pair of pants in my grandmother's craft closet. She could no longer talk by the time I found it so I couldn't ask her, and was not there when she bought it, so your guess would be as good as mine. It is a very even knit, kind of like a jersey except with only a little stretch and without the tendency to roll at the edges.

Unhelpful, I know.

Thanks all!

You know, looking at her now, with that hair she totally could have been Merida from Brave. If that movie had been released at the time.

Puamelia, I can't remember the yarn brand for the life of me- I bought it at a Big W in Sydney several years ago now. I can tell you that the ball band was brown paper and had a cartoon sheep on it!

My mum is mailing me all of my poppet making supplies soon, if a stray ball band is in there I'll be sure to tell you what it was!

Thanks guys! I can't decide between the hair or dress either! I actually made a copy of her outfit for a halloween costume- didn't look as good on me! Grin

Hi folks!

I finally posted up my three poppets (about time!)

Meet Aurora, Piper and Roquel-

and her own thread- http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=424370.0#axzz2VTojOWUF

Feels good to finally post them after Ghillie and Craftewoman were so patient with me and my pattern requests and re-requests Smiley

So a friend of mine had a small tube of rubber- probably a shoelace or something- that was black and flocked. While fiddling around aimlessly he threaded it onto a piece of wire, and inadvertently created a Poppet- sized whip. He instantly asked me for a Poppet to use it. Thus Roquel was born. She is made with the Elenore bodice with Poppet everything else.

I discovered that a pair of pants my grandmother never sewed together were cut from a skin tone knit with a tiny bit of stretch- perfect!- and with these optimal needle-sculpting conditions tried out for a collarbone and shoulder blades. I'm quite happy with them.

I could have sworn I had a pic of her with the whip, but I'm not finding it, so here's the obligatory naked pic- her hair is braided because she went through a brief middling phase of maybe being a Celt.

Meet Piper

She's my second poppet, and a dryad. She's made, very very carefully, from a woven upholstery suede. The yarn I used for her hair inspired her theme. It just screamed "TREES!" at me.

It probably helps that I've always really liked dryads...

Hello all!

Aurora was born far too long ago. I am terrible at posting things :/

Here she is before clothing and a proper hairstyle:

I made her from some black microsuede that had absolutely ZERO stretch, so needlesculpting her was quite a task. She has some strange creases as a result. I didn't have the jointing locations down at all, so she's a bit wide- legged, but she still stands!

I hand painted her eyes with student's acrylics, but opted not to put lashes on her, given they would have been invisible on her skin anyway! She's wearing a sock- sweater I made using this tute- http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=216844.msg2333354#msg2333354, and a super mini circle skirt.

Turns out the yarn I used for her hair (moonshine or something similar, long out of make I believe) will just tear apart at the slightest tug, so her buns and braids are permanent now. I made her little mini scrunchies!
