1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / New York Couture Inspired Tye-Dye Zip Bolero on: February 19, 2008 04:13:07 PM
While looking through the New York Couture site (http://newyorkcouture.net), I came across and sorta fell in love with this piece:
http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b9/deliciousbassist/pinkgreenpurpzipbolero1.jpg

I realized that I had a tye-dye shirt I'd made at my last school carnival lying around in my backyard, of all places, and I decided to finally wash it and get to work.

Here it is after I cut off the collar and sleeves:

And after a little sewing, here's my new zip bolero:

Look ma, no make-up!

Ignore my dumb tired face, I'm sick.

Here's uno close up shot:

This zipper looks like it's tilted, but it's not. You may notice the slight bunching. My zipper foot is MIA, so I decided to go without it. Coulda been worse.

And there it is! If anybody wants a tutorial, I'd be glad to make one.

Thanks for looking!

2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Graduated Chico in '03? Then you're on my purse! on: December 19, 2007 10:14:57 PM
Bonjour, Craftsters! I'm Liana, a n00b here. So, here's my project I've actually gotten pictures of for here!
Whilst Goodwilling, I found this GINORMOUS Chico State Shirt for $1.99. Though the Chico logo itself did not quite thrill me, I was intrigued by the printed names of all the grads on the back. So, I used it to make a Secret Santa present for a friend. I also used a blueish-green shirt I never wore (and happens to be my friend's favorite color), bits of an old GAP sweatshirt I used to live in, and heat-transferable lining junk. Oh, and can't forget the button!
I apologize for the lack of before pictures since this technically is a recon.

Purse closed

A little note inside of the hidden "condom pocket" that reads, "Better safe than sorry pregnant! Or t3h h3rp35ified [herpes]...."

I just gave it to her today, and she really loved it ...especially the condoms. She couldn't believe I made it at first, and when she found out I did she was super impressed. Tell me what you guys think!
