1  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Completed Projects / I made YARN! on: February 20, 2008 01:13:59 AM
And you know I had to come show it off..
2-ply, roving bought at handpaintedyarn.com. Thick-n-thin cause I was slacking (it is 4am..). But I love it.
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Storage!! on: January 13, 2008 06:17:53 PM
After yet another trip to the yarn store today, I decided it was time to find somewhere to store all this crap. Ideally I would have a nice big apartment with an extra room to store everything in, but in a group house with 4 other people, thats not happening. So, here's what I came up with:
Champagne box for needles-

closet yarn storage-

I would love to hear everyone else's methods of organization!

3  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Owl Cuff!! on: January 11, 2008 08:03:48 PM
I made this quite some time ago and found it tonight while looking for my Pippi Longstocking movie (couldn't find her, though). My sewing is a little off because I used my mom's fancy pants sewing machine. The image is printed on the fabric.

4  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Handspun Armwarmer(s) on: January 11, 2008 07:58:13 PM
So, I'm done with the first arm warmer. This was first a fetching, but was frogged cause it was ugly as sin. I then made it a basic ribbed cuff arm warmer. It was a bit big, so I felted it lightly. Its not dry yet but I like it much much more than all other versions.

5  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Felting the Fetching? Good Idea or No? on: January 06, 2008 10:30:16 PM
So I finished my first fetching with some lovely hand dyed wool I found on ebay (seller: inaspin) but stupidly knit this on needles that were a bit too big. So my poor little fetching is large and bulky. Can I felt it? Will it totally ruin my beautiful cables? Help!

6  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / What to do with handspun yarn? on: January 02, 2008 09:30:43 PM
I'm becoming really obsessed with buying beautiful (expensive!!) handspun yarn. My question is- what kind of items do you guys make to show it off in all its glory? I mean, a girl can only have so many scarves, armwarmers and hats. I'm tempted to make little wrist cuffs out of all the yarn I buy and match them to my outfits.
7  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / I got my new yarn!! on: December 29, 2007 01:41:47 PM
I'm in LOVE with my new handspun yarn!

sorry my pictures aren't so great. The color is much more rich.
Its 100% rambouilette wool- worsted weight.  Supposedly itch-free.
Smaller skein was $10 and larger was $14. Shipping from New Mexico to D.C. was DIRT cheap and didn't take as long as I'd expected.
The ebay seller was inaspin

Question #1 There is a bit of debris in the yarn. How can I clean this out? It seems to work alright if I just run it through my fingers while putting it into balls. Any other suggestions?

Annnd.. What can I make? There's about 300 yards.
8  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / My Mom Makes the MOST Beautiful Quilts on: December 25, 2007 09:58:57 AM

after much persuasion, she let me post one
9  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / So, I promised an 8 year old a hat.. on: December 24, 2007 12:18:23 AM
I promised I'd make one of my kids at work a hat. Of course now its my vacation and I have no idea how big an 8 year olds head is!!
Anyone know or willing to take a guess? I was thinking maybe 16 inches?
10  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / I Went To the Knitting Store!! on: December 14, 2007 05:09:49 PM
And bought a whole bunch of yarn I don't need. I also have no idea what to make with any of this shit.
Any ideas?
