I love this! What a cute cruelty-free replacement for a fur stole!

I think I may just have to shamelessly copy you!

2  COOKING / Vegetarian / Vegan / Re: ~*~*Reviews of Prepackaged Vegetarian and Vegan Foods*~*~ on: January 26, 2010 01:46:53 PM

This thread is just making me sad about all the great easy vegan foods you can get in the US!

In the UK, it's so much more limited! I'm lucky that I live in Brighton, which has the highest percentage of vegetarians/vegans in the country, and there's a few very healthy shops (boring) that sell lots of vegan things. I want vegan 'ribs'!!

I am green with jealousy. So I'm going to eat the vegan 'white chocolate' my boyfriend bought me!

3  COOKING / Vegetarian / Vegan / Re: decent snacks? on: January 26, 2010 01:09:58 PM

Oh my do I love to snack! I get what you mean about it being more difficult, I've been at a bit of a loss when it comes to snack time ever since I became vegan over 4 years ago! But here are some I've come up with:

Cookie bites: Whenever I make cookies, I make them a little smaller than the recipe says and have them.
Half an avocado: So good! I just eat it with a spoon, but it's also good with a bit of chilli sauce/salt on.
Dry roasted peanuts: these are dangerous! I could probably eat the whole bag in one go.
Soya yogurts: there are so many great flavours available in the UK now, dark cherry or tropical are my favourite!
Dried fruit: Always good, I keep a little tupperware of dried apricots and mixed nuts in my bag for when I get hungry on the bus!

Any more ideas would be great!

4  COOKING / Vegetarian / Vegan / Re: Vegan Brunch Help on: January 26, 2010 12:53:56 PM

My favourite indulgent brunch is french toast (http://vegweb.com/index.php?topic=24887.0) with heaps of berries and powdered sugar.

And to you could even cut the toast into heart shapes before you dip/fry it to make it extra lovely!

Here are the lovely things ZombieCazz sent to me! I am so grateful, she really spoilt me and I love everything!

Here is my big present, a big slouchy mustard yellow cowl:

And matching mittens! These are so warm, and so cute! My picture doesn't do them justice at all, they are the same colour as the cowl.

And all the rest of the wonder-haul:

Some beautifully embroidered napkins:

Mouse and spider toys for my cat:

A lovely cabled tea pouch, with loads of extra tasty smelling tea:

A fun christmas teddy oven glove:

Felt and embroidered party rings (cookies) for the tree, although these will definately be up all year round in my kitchen:

Some absolutely amazing crocheted snowflakes:

And, my favourite, a felt moustache straight from my wists:

Thank you so much Zombiecazz! You are AMAZING!

9  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Cute Cupcake Crochet Caddy (Roll) on: December 15, 2009 12:19:33 PM

One of my best friends, Zoe, just got into crochet. She's also unemployed, so she's gotten into it in a BIG way. I made her these fingerless mittens: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=281327.msg3186153#msg3186153 for her birthday last year and she said that that made her want to learn how to knit/crochet herself. It was so sweet!

Anyway, because she loved the last crafted gift I made her, I knew I had to make her something for her birthday this year. So I used this amazing tutorial: http://www.joleo.co.uk/todayweare/?p=176 to make her a crochet roll. I love the fact that it has a special little pocket for sewing needles for when you need to sew your crocheted loveliness together!

It ties up with the ribbon you can just see on the right. It was longer but then my cat chewed it all up so I had to cut it shorter.

Any comments and criticism would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

10  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Re: Lovely Long Name Necklace on: November 28, 2009 03:09:26 PM

Thanks!

To join the letters I sewed a little ring (or on some of them just a link of the chain) to the top of the letter and secured it with a couple of stitches. Then I attached the chain to that ring. After a couple of letters I realised that it would probably be easier to attach the chain first, then sew! Pretty fiddly and I'm sure someone can think of a better way of doing it but it hasn't broken or come loose yet and I don't think it should unless she catches/yanks the necklace.

Thank you for all the loveliness!
