781  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: First completed scarf on: January 11, 2008 02:28:51 PM
Ooooh! that is good for a first scarf.. the first scarf i ever made was for my teddybear when i was about 9 he still wears it.. but its more of an abstract shape scarf than straight as it should be!

What yarn did u use? i really like the colour.
782  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Princess Pram Cover help please? on: January 09, 2008 01:34:35 PM
Yeah, thats what i figured about the intarsia technique, i have started a scrap square and i am writing the directions out in chart form as i go to see if that helps. But so far it is just confusing me even more! lol! i tried To do it with different balls of yarn for the colours too.. but i havent had any luck figuring it out yet.. i am hoping that if i keep going at it it'll come to me..

I also as you suggested asked her about doing the first part of the square in one colour then switching to the other.. i am hoping she will come round to that idea! I think it would look good like that myself.. i could even do the eyelet stripes in alternating colours.. if she liked?!

thanks for ur reply Jints.

785  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Princess Pram Cover help please? on: January 09, 2008 12:16:02 PM
This is my first time posting a question....

OK, so.. my friend asked me a favour and wants me to make a baby blanket for her to give to her cousin... after going through loads of different free patterns she chose this one:

Its a nice design i think.. and it is pretty simple.. but she has asked if there is anyway of making the 'leaf/petal' bits a different colour maybe blue n the rest white? i am just having trouble trying to work out how to do it? i'm probably being stupid and overlooking something really obvious.. but i was just wondering if there are any suggestions?

Thanks

it looks great! I too am attempting granny squares for the fist time! After i finished all of my gift projects i felt i had nothing to do.. so i've started on granny squares.. i just keep making them at the moment.. only simple tho.. but i have a lot of baby type yarn leftover from projects over the past 2 years cos all of my friends keep having babies!.. so i figure i will just keep making them.. n then when one of friends next has a baby i'll be able to pick out from my wide selection and make blankets! lol! i only really started making them last week.. and so far i think i have about 25!
