1  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Pearl spree. LOTS of pics. Added more! on: February 08, 2007 03:02:36 AM
EDIT: to add the final bridal jewellery and the test necklaces...

Note: somehow this topic got doubled, and I've asked the other one to be deleted, so I apologise to those of you who commented there...it was nothing personal...promise!  Kiss

A while ago a friend asked me to make her wedding jewellery for her - originally she wanted biiiiiig red pearls on a choker, but then she decided on small grey freshwater pearls.  I still ended up making the bridesmaids jewellery from the big pearls, and she also got a bracelet and choker made from them.

Sorry about the shadows, I'll have to take a new pic now that I have it back.

Strangely after spending quite a few hours on the grey necklace, the bride figured out it didn't go with the dress, and I ended up making another one.  Luckily she's a good friend or I probably would have told her off a bit.  Wink

The bridesmaids jewellery:

but long story short this started a pearl spree and I've been making glass pearl bracelets like mad...maybe I should stop...or maybe not.  Still have lots of pearls to use!  And there was one necklace and bracelet set that was taken as soon as it was done.

All the bracelets:

Hope you like them - and btw, the purple is actually grey but for some reason it's all wonky in the photos....

This is the final necklace the bride wore - much simpler in design and much more understated as you can see.

A closeup of the necklace

And these were the testruns  - pardon the onde dodge photo..it was late and b/f was feeling neglected so it was a bit rushed  Wink.

2  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Fresh our of title ideas, but I did make some stuff (IMG heavy) on: December 20, 2005 06:58:15 AM
I'm honest here, I am all out of cute or original thread titles....but here's some stuff I made a while ago and I've been having a hard time finding time to post them, so here goes...

The earrings:
Two sets of black beads with silver beadcaps, to match the black necklace:

Two pairs of red earings to match any of the red neclaces.

One pair of squiggly earrings with purple glass bicones.

The bracelets:
Red beaded bracelet on memory wire with spacers.  I think next time I'll try those glue-on end-beads for memory wire - seeing as I finally got a hold of some  Grin

Another red bracelet on memory wire - same story, next time it's thoe glue-on end-beads!  I'm very proud of this one, as I've had the idea for a while now - there's a matching necklace, but it's a closely guarded secret... Grin

A pink bracelet commisioned by a co-worker.  She bought a pink necklace and earrings ina shop but also wanted a bracelet, so viola!

The necklaces:
While making this I ended up making a necklace to match, even though she only wanted the bracelet - guess I was a little inspired (or bored  Wink)

A red multi-layer necklace using siam-coloured faceted beads

A simple necklace using siam-coloured faceted beads, with a toggle clasp in front.  Second pic is a close-up of the toggle.

Hematite necklace with black cube beads and small oval black faceted beads.  The circles are made from hematite.

Black beaded multi-layer necklace.  This is quite heavy in it's design, and I guess not really suited to day-wear  Wink  Close-up to give you some idea of the beadcaps.

Lastly, a very simple purple necklace with glass beads on memory wire.  I think they're bold enough to not need much else like this...

So let me know what you think?  I end up making the stuff and then wonder where the heck people will wear them too, and if I don't stop soon I don't know what I'm going to do with all this stuff... Grin
3  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Over the top...understated on: October 11, 2005 04:32:17 AM
I made these a few weeks ago, and haven't had time to post - so I thought it's about time I shared again...

I finally got around to using my pearls - a pearl, crystal and silver necklace - the pearls are peach-coloured with clear faceted crystal inbetween. It's very feminine and understated...not flashy...so subtle bling if there is such a thing   Tongue

And matching earrings:

This one my bf (a.k.a. the critic) calls a little over the top.  What can I say - I like stars (and green - so I guess green stars would make me REALLY happy?).  Black opaque glass beads on memory wire, with black bugle beads and one strand with pearlescent bugle beads.  The stars stand out and don't flop so ideally this would go with a nice strappy dress - definitely no collar!

While doing the other piece for a coworder's wedding, I carried on with the dark blue beads and came up with this...I'm not sure if 'm entirely happy with the straight pieces...maybe at some point I'll have an urge to change them, but for now...

That's all for now...and to think I went and bought more stuff today...I really need to stop buying findings and beads!  Wink
4  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Que: The Village People..and this one's for the bride! on: September 24, 2005 09:05:37 AM
In the Navy...lalalala....I've had this song in my head since starting this piece..and everytime I have to edit the pics or something..well..there I go again..So for anyone else now inanely humming the song - deepest sympathy and apologies from me!  Grin

This is what got me started - another comissioned piece for a coworker to wear to her traditional wedding ceremony - her outfit being a navy skirt and jacket ...well for the "Western bit at least"...for the other part she was complaining bitterly about her skirt that she has to wear made out of 12...yes 12m of gathered fabric, and the skirt is short...so don't go thinking that's gotta be a helluva train...nope..unfortunately not!  Wink  And it can last up to 24 hours - no invite neccessary, so it's quite the party!  Here's hoping she's having a blast!  Kiss

It's made with navy/dark blue glass beads, a large blue focal bead and white frosted Indian beads.

She wasn't sure what kind of earrings she wanted, so I made drop earrings and hoopy ones....Oh decisions decisions - she couldn't decide which pair of earrings to wear, so for all I know she wore both...lol  Cheesy

Hope you enjoy!
5  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Always the bridesmaid - never the bride! on: September 19, 2005 03:19:20 AM
well ok...so it's not technically for me...it's for someone attending a wedding..and I guess she's not a bridesmaid..and she is married herself...ah suffit..Ii just like saying that then..

I was asked to make something for a coworker for a wedding she's attending, and she showed me her outfit and asked for something to match it.  She wanted something with "layers"  and dangly bits (mumbling something about showing off cleavage  Wink ), and also matching earrings..and here we have it... this took ages with all the eyepins - I think I came close to cracking up; just when I thought I had enough then I needed just one more, or being a little obsessive I would think "that" one doesn't look quite right and fix them...aarrrgh

The full monty - with dangly bits and all (no pun intended):

A side view with the connector:

The back view - it started off longer but I adjusted it so that she was happy with the length and kept the extra length to hang down the back:

The earrings - she's very petite so wanted something simple - mumbled something about a christmas tree here I think  Cheesy

Hope you like!
6  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Multi-stranded bracelet and a necklace or 2 on: August 19, 2005 05:14:25 AM
Here goes....seems it got moved here anyways....oh well..at least it's among friends  Wink

White, lgiht blue and grey indian beads with silver star charms...

Smoke coloured glass stars and cubes - the one bracelet is just stars and the other cubes and stars with matching necklace....

A pink indian bead bracelet - seven strands I think with silver beads and spacers...

A purple necklace and bracelet - the purple glass beads are rectangular, with silver beads inbetween

And lastly, I like green...a lot....ok? So I'm always trying to make the perfect green bracelet - and I'll get there one day - perfect green shade, nice shape etc etc...it's my mission in life I think.  In the meantime, I did make this though....

Please tell me what you think....quality etc..
Thanks
7  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Not without my beads! on: August 10, 2005 01:14:43 AM
So I should be finishing up other things, right? riiiiight....

I made these a while ago _ I've been wanting to make a layered choker-type necklace from memory wire for a while now, and this is what I came up with:

The bracelet was made with spare and loose red beads I didn't know what to do with - to mayve match the necklace:

Then, I got a hold of some resin-like thingies and thought they would look nice on just a pieceof wire - very simplistic and retro I thought.

Some chandelier-type earrings I made for someone to match a necklace I had made.

And to further my obsession with stars, a little charm bracelet:

Resin earrings:

for some reason I like naming things after food or cocktails...hmm..wonder what that says about me... Shocked
8  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Ready...Set...GO! on: June 20, 2005 05:21:55 AM
My first "set" of jewelry/accessories that I've made and I'm pretty happy with how they came out.  I revamped a cufflet I had made already but wasn't too happy with, and made a matching necklace and earrings.  The other set is made of mauve glass beads with flat glass beads as focus, also with a necklace, cufflet and earrings. I made two mauve cufflets - the one has "dangles" on the center section that match the necklace, while the other one has grey sections and is wider that the first cufflet.

The earrings:

The necklaces (chokers):

The cufflets:

I also made a turquoise and black cufflet after a friend was saying how she loves the colour-combination - she has yet to see it so we'll see if she likes it.

Then I made a red bracelet with 3 shades of red - this was my first try at just using eye-pins to make beads, and I quite like how it turned out.

Hope you like it!
9  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / A Cufflet? Link to similar tutorial... on: May 11, 2005 07:14:21 AM
I found a similar tutorial on the web that explains the principal of how to connect the different sections fo memory wire, as it seems that this is what most people want to know.  If the instructions here just end up confusing you more, just shout and I'll try and clarify!  Hope this helps!

http://www.diynet.com/diy/cr_jewelry/article/0,2025,DIY_13762_3453578,00.html

A while ago I bought a cuff-bracelet, and at some point convinced myself that I could make that too...so off I went...and tried

This is what I've come up with so far...this has been my first meeting with memory wire, and, well, wire in general...

Here are more that I added and two necklaces...first attempt at those..

The pink one is made of 7 parts.

The red one is made of 9 parts/sections.

Inbetween I've also been playing and making these beaded stars and flowers....just thought I'd show them off.

There we go...that's about it...

10  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / HK strikes back on: April 18, 2005 02:54:32 PM
I based this bag on something I saw a while ago - I was interested in the way the handles are done more than anything else, so I had to figure a way out to do this, and voila....and I say voila, becuase most of the nasty words I know have already had enough chances while I was making this baby.  Angry

At least I got the handles figured out, and know exactly how I won't do them again, and all the other little things I definitely won't do!  I think I'll also use a lighter yellow, or other matching colour next time, as this one was a bit...orangey.... Tongue

At least it's still HK, right?  Wink

Anyhow..next time...work neater...swear less....

The outside with my nemesis...a.k.a the handles

The inside with a zip pocket lined in the same fabric as the outside.

Enjoy!
