21  Re: ??? Iron-on Transfer Pens in melbourne ??? in AUSTRALIA by crumpet on: July 18, 2005 11:45:59 PM

I feel really dumb -- I've had this sitting in my sewing box for at least 6 months, and I never thought to try it out with the iron.  I bought it thinking it was a big tailor's chalk sort of thing, I guess.  It didn't do very well as tailor's chalk, so I catalogued it in my brain as a waste of money and left it at that.  It suddenly hit me today that it's probably an iron on transfer pencil.  And it worked!  I'm pretty sure I bought it at BJs Discount Fabrics on Lygon St in Brunswick, but it may have been Spotlight in Brunswick or Lincraft in the city.

22  Re: Spun Summer Sock Collection in Knitting: Completed Projects by crumpet on: July 15, 2005 05:50:10 PM
I'm so totally making all of these.  Several times.  When I'm finished all my other projects... /sigh

I lied.  My other projects aren't finished yet.  And it's not even summer in Australia -- it's the middle of winter!

23  PIE! - Link to pattern now posted on page 3 :) in Knitting: Completed Projects by crumpet on: July 08, 2005 05:57:06 PM

I'm off to a surprise birthday party pie fight today, so whipped this up as a commemorative gift.  I pretty much winged it, but did use the Pi Kitty Bed and Knitty's Boobie Scarf patterns as a springboard. Smiley

There are some more pics on my blog at http://www.crumpart.net/blog/?p=40

25  Re: Daisy Baby Cardigan Sweater - Knitty in Knitting: Completed Projects by crumpet on: June 10, 2005 08:17:56 PM
I finished making this a couple of weeks ago for my new baby nephew born Monday just gone.  I used machine-washable wool crepe, left over from a vest I made for myself.

28  Kaylee Firefly purse in Needlework: Completed Projects by crumpet on: May 21, 2005 06:40:33 PM
I was going to post this in the purse section, but really the purse part was just a vehicle for the embroidery. Wink

I made this bag for the Joss Whedon 2 swap, and it's based on this image of Kaylee from the awesome series Firefly: http://www.fireflyfans.net/sunroomitem.asp?i=2419 -- also, "shiny", in Firefly land, means good/cool/awesome. Smiley

Anyway, here is the purse:

All the coloured shapes are appliqued onto the bag, then I embroidered over the top.  On the "shiny" side I used satin stitch, and on the other side I used split stitch to help make the embroidery resemble bamboo.

I just finished this vest today...

It's from a 70s pattern I found in my mum's cupboard... I love it!

There's another pic of me in it and also a photo of the pattern book cover on my blog.

30  Re: SHAKE YOUR MONEYMAKER -Gallery in The Swap Gallery by crumpet on: May 05, 2005 06:58:35 PM
OK, just quickly before I go to work, here's the fun jewellery I received from purple_hippo!

An earring is missing from this picture -- it fell into my slipper while I was shaking the package, and I discovered it there later. Smiley

And here is what I made for sarahdotcom:
