1  crocheted farmer's market bag in CHALLENGE 20 ENTRIES by muffinpod on: August 01, 2007 07:36:29 PM
i love shopping at farmer's markets and at the trader joe's where i work, but i wanted to make my own fun bag for such occasions.

i made this bag over the weekend and it worked up so fast! i didn't use a pattern.... i just kinda made it up as i went along. it's made of that cheap sugar and spice cotton. i love that stuff though!

there are no "during" pics. sorry... i had to work on it fast because the cat sure LOVES yarn! (she's been stealing balls of yarn and hiding them under the couch!)

i also think it would make a great beach bag.

thanks for looking! <3

4  thrift store fiber! in Spinning: Completed Projects by muffinpod on: January 21, 2006 12:25:21 PM
okay- i went to the thrift store and paid about $7 (US) for what feels to me like three pounds of fiber.

it's wool. it's lovely. i think i might dye over some of it, but i was stoked to find it at such a great price. here's what i spun from it so far:

6  first yarns!!! in Spinning: Completed Projects by muffinpod on: December 12, 2005 08:51:17 PM
eee!! i got my drop spindle from ebay and had a blast over the weekend:

the first one i did was the dark teal one... then the light seafoamy one with the sparkles (my favourite) and then the natural one. i dyed the seafoam one myself, which was way cool.

thoughts?

7  Re: Poppy theme! in Craftalongs by muffinpod on: November 28, 2005 05:39:42 PM

i want to do something with this pic.
maybe put it on a cigar box purse? i took it ages ago and i adore it. i agree, though... CA poppies are not cool.

poppies will put them to sleeeeep....
maybe make it a stencil and cilkscreen it onto a shirt.  Smiley

8  from antique box to buddha shrine! in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by muffinpod on: June 15, 2005 12:04:23 PM
hello... i'm pretty sure this is where i'd post this. i went to an antique store and for three dollars got this awesome laquer box. (cat not included.)

in case you can't tell, the image on the box is a deer suckling it's mama. i find it charmingly disturbing. awww... hooray for breastfeeding forest critters!

to this lovely box i added fortune cookie fortunes, sea glass, jewels, a buddha, some decoupage paper, and some love and came up with this:

what do you think?

9  gold and black 'corazon' box! in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by muffinpod on: June 15, 2005 10:42:58 AM
Hey! I had a little gold box (about 3" in diameter) and it was boring. so... i made it into this!

i've been becoming quite a fan of mexican bingo/loteria cards. the one i used, in case it's illegible, is "el corazon"

black acrylic paint + red jewels added a spunky touch, i think.

planning on making more! let me know what you think? <3
