The and gun are made from foam, hardware, tubing, and computer parts. I carved the foam with a styrofoam tool (essentially a hot wire) and glued everything together. Once all that dried, I painted the foam black, leaving the wires and computer chip exposed.

The suit is painter's coveralls spraypainted brown. The patches are handpainted. I got the belt, the elbow pads, and the boots at Goodwill.

Overall, I was super happy with my costume. It took me two weeks and cost about $100, but it went over really well.

It's probably a long-shot, but my high school had the same rules. Do you, by any chance, go to New Trier?

Hey! I'm a sophomore at UCSD who has been looking all over for peeps to craft with. Alas, I have found no one yet. If anyone here is at UCSD or nearby or not nearby but with car, then we should get together. I love popping in movie and crafting with friends. 

I'm trying to rope someone into doing a Greenlantern or Wonderwoman. But something tells me that the Emily shall be all alone in her doings of comicbook costumes.

Awww... I am also always alone in my comicbook costumes. I would TOTALLY join you and create a Justice League (or at least 2/7ths of a Justice League).

That costume is 20 kinds of awesome.

The real nice thing about going as Batgirl is all you need is a Batgirl logo on your shirt, tights, and a black skirt. Even if it's not a super-accurate representation of whats in the comic books, it'll be cute and everyone will know who you are.

Also, missdisney, seconded on the Ray Palmer notion. But I've totally fallen for Hal Jordan (Green Lantern) lately...

Aight, so last Halloween I was an iPod Shadow Dancer from the old iPod commercials. I had a lot of fun and got lots of compliments on this super-easy costume.

All I did was wear all black and carry my iPod around all day. I hate face paint, so I didn't paint my face black to complete the effect, but I think it'd look great. The yellow background is actually a yellow foam core board that I stapped to my back (like a backpack) using black ribbon.
