i hate to sound ignorant, but is stabilizer necessary?  or would interfacing be ok?  or both?  or is that redundant?  gah!

I think the two words tend to be used interchangably.  I think of stabilizer as the stuff you use when machine embroidering and interfacing as the stuff you use in garments and bags.   I use a mid-weight interfacing and usually fusible fleece in many of my bags/purses.  Some people like a stiffer bag and use a heavy-weight interfacing.  I also use fusible interfacing rather than sew-in most of the time as I find it quicker and easier.  You could use canvas for an inner layer as well (this is good for market bags or any bag you want some drape to rather than stiffness).  I find that for some bags, fusible fleece is enough for the body I am looking for.  It is what you use as the inner layer that gives the bag body, so it really depends on what you want the end product to be like.

Progress.  I have my broccokitty ironed, sandwiched and basted!  I went to a quilt club on free motion today and got a lot of good advice for how to do the quilting so I am ready to go for it tomorrow... assuming, of course that I can settle on thread colors.   Undecided

Your broccokitty is so cute!  I eat the colors and even though I am not a cat person, I think your quilt is great! Smiley

I have my bag half finished and one of the extras done.  I really hope my partner likes what I have chosen.  The bag is a pile of flesh I have made before, but I am making some slight modifications.  It is coming together well, if I do say so myself. Smiley

kwiltykate, that is so cute!  It is such a happy scene.

MareMare, I eat that idea for quilting!  It is simple, but looks intricate.  I will have to give that a try.  Thanks!

I made a wist, too.  I am not sure how to link it here, but will try.
I am excited about this unicorn zombie apocalypse!

I am just pasting the link (hope that is ok) because I don't know how to or if I can add the little icon thing some of you have.

I only have 1 purse on my wist (which is a short list right now), but the rest are things that reflect my style and likes which I think/hope will be helpful. Smiley

Wow, you all have great quilty lists. Smiley  It will be so fun to see the finished projects!

I am trying to work on my first one, but I need to get my 12.5" square ruler from my mom's house so I can cut my main blocks easier.  I should have it tomorrow so I can really get working.

My Alice in Wonderland quilt is using the Atkinson pile of flesh called All About Me and the fabric is from Quilting Treasures.  The fabric is printed with the artwork from the original publication of the book.  I am adapting the pile of flesh a little because I am making it a little different sized than the pile of flesh options and am adding a border.

Happy quilting!
