351  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Craft with a Fat Quarter Swap!! (SU CLOSED, SO 4/18/11) on: March 28, 2011 06:58:56 PM
Just had to share this with someone and you guys get to be the ones.  Grin

I just won some fabric in an on-line auction from a quilt store that went out of business.  I got 127.5 yards of fabric for $180.09.  That is $1.41 per yard!  Now I have to figure out where to put it all. Smiley

Alright, I've found my fabric and I'm drawing out the patterns as we speak. It looks like it will be a pretty kitchen theme. Cheesy

Oh, a teaser. Smiley  I can't wait.
Yes, I went shopping on-line for you because the fat quarters I had were not what I wanted to send.  I found exactly what I was looking for (and it was on sale Smiley).  I had thought to use these in crafting your goodies, but I wasn't sure how long it would take for them to arrive and I didn't want to have to rush at the end.  I think you will like the fabric I am crafting with, though.

It is surprising how much you can get out of a fat quarter.  Even the 18" by 22" ones.  Grin

Oh, I am so excited!  I just ordered some fat quarters for my swap partner.  They are so cute!
I also got some things for myself.  I haven't ordered fabric on-line in a long time.  It will be a fun mail day when it arrives. Smiley

I have a plan, now I just hope it turns out how it looks in my head. Smiley
I am going to start on it today since I am snowed in anyway.  I thought Spring was on its way?!
355  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / card holder on: March 21, 2011 07:49:25 AM
Here is a little card holder I made for a model at the quilt shop I where I work.  It is from a pattern called Kard Keeper by Maple Island Quilts.
Very quick and easy.  I made another one with a sewing theme, but forgot to take pics before taking it into work.

Thanks for looking! Smiley

green r my tear$ and I did a personal swap.  I made her 4 wool felt key shaped key chains and in exchange she made me 3 reusable snack bags and she sent a cute, orange purse.

Here are the pics:

Here are the snack bags. I love the brown fabric, very retro!

Inside of the bag.

Here is the purse.  My favorite color is orange and this is such a bright, cheery bag.  Very cute!

Had to show the inside with all the little hearts. Smiley

Thanks, green r my tear$.  Great swap!

Your pouch is great and the octopus is super cute! Smiley
Just throwing out another option here; freezer paper.  I use freezer paper a lot for tracing patterns.  Draw your design on the paper side and cut out (I usually leave a little paper around my drawn lines) then you can iron the waxy side of the freezer paper to your felt and cut out the design on the drawn line.  I use a little bit of glue baste-it to hold my felt while hand or machine stitching it in place.

Very nice.  I love your color combination and the elephant embroidery is awesome!  Great job! Smiley
