41  mermaid embroidery in Needlework: Completed Projects by Deece in MN on: May 16, 2011 06:50:44 PM
Since my partner has received this, I can share it. Smiley
I made this for my swap partner in the Fabric Lovers Scavenger Hunt swap.  She loves mermaids and I had just found this pattern online, so I had to make it for her.

42  Jenna's Bag ~ Sew-Phisticat pattern in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by Deece in MN on: May 16, 2011 03:21:40 PM
I was asked by my local quilt guild to be the speaker next month.  I am going to talk about making bags.  I make a lot of bags and I guess that makes me worthy of speaking on the topic (not according to me, but I was honored they asked).  Grin
They also asked me to teach a class the following day.  I spent a long time trying to find a pattern that would incorporate as many techniques as possible, yet be simple enough so everyone (hopefully) can complete it in the amount of time allowed for the class.
I ended up choosing Jenna's Bag by Sew-Phisticat designs.  I like the bag and I think it will be good for the class.  I am going to make another one for my cousin.
The pattern has an optional adjustable handle, but I couldn't do that in my sample because I couldn't find a slider anywhere locally and didn't have time to order one on-line.
Anyway, here is the purse.

Pocket under front flap

Thanks for looking. Smiley

43  Re: Fabric Lover Scavenger Hunt Gallery in The Swap Gallery by Deece in MN on: May 16, 2011 03:05:46 PM
Received my package today from aprettymess and it is awesome! Smiley

Something green:
Purse handles!  I love the trapezoid shaped ones.  Now I have to come up with a pattern that will really show them off!

Something under 2":
Buttons!  I love these buttons.  I have seen the ones with the tree (the ones on the left) and I have almost purchased them more than once.  Now I have them. Yay! Smiley

Something bumpy:
Zippers!  I never would have thought of zippers for this category, but I think it is great!  I can never have enough pretty colored zippers. Smiley

Something lucky:
Fabric!  In her note she wrote "lucky #7".  There are 7 great fabrics here.  Very creative!

Something vintage:
Retro Hostess Apron!  I love everything about this apron: the shape, the colors, the fabrics.  It is all awesome!

Something local:
Bandannas & something cool, but not sure what to call it! Smiley
I love the rich colors of the bandannas!  I don't know if the other item has a specific name, but I love it.  I have some dreamcatchers and this reminds me off those.  Very cool!

Sudoku!  I also received a pocket sudoku game.  I love sudoku and this will come in handy when I am waiting in the car (I have already played a few games Smiley ).

Thank you!  This was a great swap!  Love your interpretations of the categories. Smiley

44  Re: Craft with a Fat Quarter Swap Gallery (SO 4/18/11) in The Swap Gallery by Deece in MN on: April 23, 2011 07:12:47 AM
I wanted to try and post quick before heading to work.  I think I had the best partner in the swap!  Grin
Suwalo really nailed my personality.  I love everything she made!
I do apologize for the pictures.  I took them when I got home last night so I didn't have the best lighting.
Here we go:
Here is the box full of goodies. Smiley

These are house shaped coasters; so cute!

These are little eye pillows filled with lavender and green tea.  They smell wonderful!  I do yoga and I think I will try these during relaxation.

This is a tissue holder.

This is a tea wallet.  I have been wanting one of these, so this was perfect.  I am going to take it to work today and enjoy one of the teas she included.

This is a bookmark with the cutest teapot charm.  I love it!

This is a fabric tray.  Again, this is something I have been wanting to make and just haven't gotten around to doing so.  Suwalo didn't know this about either item, so I was very excited to receive them.  I am going to use it by my sewing machine to corral my bobbins, needles, etc.

And, finally, the sweetest little birdie ever!  My little birdie also has a nest.  It is so cute!  My daughter wants to claim him for herself so I have to keep my eye on him. Smiley

Everything together, including the fat quarters.  I received an extra because she couldn't decide which ones to send.  I love them all!

Thank you, Suwalo!!  I had a great time with this swap.  You are an awesome partner!

45  card holder in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by Deece in MN on: March 21, 2011 07:49:25 AM
Here is a little card holder I made for a model at the quilt shop I where I work.  It is from a pattern called Kard Keeper by Maple Island Quilts.
Very quick and easy.  I made another one with a sewing theme, but forgot to take pics before taking it into work.

Thanks for looking! Smiley

green r my tear$ and I did a personal swap.  I made her 4 wool felt key shaped key chains and in exchange she made me 3 reusable snack bags and she sent a cute, orange purse.

Here are the pics:

Here are the snack bags. I love the brown fabric, very retro!

Inside of the bag.

Here is the purse.  My favorite color is orange and this is such a bright, cheery bag.  Very cute!

Had to show the inside with all the little hearts. Smiley

Thanks, green r my tear$.  Great swap!

47  Re: Make a Purse & Fill It Swap (Round 6) Gallery in The Swap Gallery by Deece in MN on: March 02, 2011 02:19:11 PM
I received from craftycakelady today.  I am so excited!
My favorite color is orange followed by brown.  She totally nailed the fabric; I love it!
Anyway, here are the pics:

My camera didn't do the embroidery justice.  It is beautiful!

These are the extras.  They are all awesome! The card holder will come in handy for my quilt shop cards. Smiley
I love the embroidery case.  This was crafted special because I mentioned that I have started hand embroidery.  I think that is so cool and it will help get me organized.

Inside of bag.  I just love this fabric! Smiley

Everything together.

I love it all.  It really fits my style and colors.  This swap was great for my first swapping experience.

48  Re: Make a Purse & Fill It Swap (Round 6) Gallery in The Swap Gallery by Deece in MN on: February 27, 2011 04:24:53 PM
I spoke with my swap partner and am posting some pics for her of what I sent.

Here is the front of the bag.

Back of the bag.

There is a large wallet, a smaller wallet (I made this mainly because I made a boo-boo on the larger wallet), a notepad holder, a tissue holder, a card holder (the orange colored item), a felt key chain, and assorted goodies.

This is the wallets and notepad holder open.

I had a great time with this swap.  I love seeing what everyone has made!

49  Purse accessories in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by Deece in MN on: February 26, 2011 06:19:10 PM
These are the accessories I made to go with the bag for the make a purse and fill it swap.

There is a large wallet, a smaller wallet, tissue holder, card holder (orange colored item), notepad holder and a felt key chain.

I don't really like the color of the zippers in the wallets, but I couldn't find a color that matched more closely.  I think it works well enough.

I think my favorite piece is the key chain. Smiley

50  Triple Squares Scrap-Bag Pattern in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by Deece in MN on: February 26, 2011 06:13:12 PM
Hi all,
I was in the make a purse and fill it swap.  This is the bag I made for my swap partner (she has already received it, so I guess it is ok to post).
It is a purchased pattern with a few tweaks.

This is the front of the bag.  The small pocket has a design that I hand embroidered with variegated thread.  I wanted it to imitate the circles in the patterned fabric.  The main brown fabric is a fine-wale corduroy that I just love.  I also added the swivel hook to the handle to clip on keys or a reusable bag.

Fuzzy closeup of the embroidery.  Sorry it is not a good shot, but it is the only one I have.

Back of bag.  I opted to not add the small pocket on this side as I wanted to let the circle patterned fabric to show more.

Inside of bag.  I am not sure why it looks like there is a wrinkle in the lining as there really isn't.

Anyway, that is the bag.  I have made this pattern for myself with the same corduroy only in orange.  I added interfacing to this bag as I thought it might be nice with a little more body.  It is a fun bag to make.
