I haven't been able to sew for awhile... work got the best of me. But I really wanted to make a quilt for my friends baby shower tomorrow so I pulled a few late nights and just finished today. It's tied, not quilted... that's all I had time for!

about how much does fusible fleece go for? Did you use any sort of pattern - or did you make it as you went? Looks terrific! Fusible fleece, in my area, ranges from 4 - 5 dollars a yard. I didn't use a pattern... I used a lot of basic purse making "moves". The box bottom was the "sew together then pull out the point and sew across at an angle" move. The handles were the "iron sides to the middle and then fold in half and topstitch" move. The lining was the "create same box and sew across the top, flip out and topstitch" move.

CLOTHING / Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Discussion and Questions / Re: Pattern Sizing?

I know I'm jumping in on this very very late ; )
But if anyone is still reading:
In the early 80's RTW started changing how they labeled their clothes. The actual dimensions were the same, but they started putting smaller numbers on them. This was called "vanity sizing". They found it made a woman feel good if she thought she was an 8 and found it too big and had to go down to a 6. This made her like their product. It got worse and worse.
Why do you think in the middle of what they keep yelling is an "obesity epidemic" do we have sizes 1 and 0 and 00? Those sizes never existed before. But if you measure them... they were what used to be 4 and 6 and 8.
Women who wore a 10 in high school in the 80's, can still wear a 10... even if they've gain 40 pounds over the years.
When they say Marilyn Monroe was a size 12... well a size 12 is now what would be a size 6 or 8.
However, the sewing world did not do that. So what you see on patterns is what a size whatever used to be before they decided to play into our body insecurities ; )
