261  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / doll#4 Dr Who series: Meet Cyberman on: November 26, 2007 10:09:22 AM
Just finished up another Christmas present for my boys. This is Cyberman, made with Ghilie's pattern. He's made with a stretch satin. It was a pain to work with because it was woven, not knitted. I wouldn't recommend it! His pattern on his body is done with ball point pen.(I'm getting so lazy!)

I am thinking about tea staining my duvet cover and pillow cases, so that they're not so bright white.
What do you think?
263  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / blue polka dots and bird mini tote on: November 20, 2007 07:09:23 AM
My first purse. Very simple with no closures. It combines my sister's favorite things: birds, purses and polka dots. I hope she'll like it.
264  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Doll #3 in Dr Who Series Meet Miss Rose Tyler on: November 16, 2007 11:27:50 PM
I know she's naked, but I just can't wait to show her off. After messing up on painting her mouth, and thinking I was going to have to sew a new head, take all her hair off and resew it, i fixed the paint job. She just needed a little concealer under her nose. You know how we ladies love our concealer! LOL! I have a great outfit planned for her, and have the pattern drafted, but, it's almost 12:30am and I need to get to bed! hopefully I can sleep. I'm just so excited about this one.

You can't even tell that I messed up on her mouth.
265  CLOTHING / Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Discussion and Questions / Tired of unflattering boring clothing for round figure on: November 07, 2007 11:00:20 AM
I see stuff I like all the time and I would love to make it for my size 18 body, but the patterns don't come in that size, or they don't have patterns of what I like. I want to make my own patterns. How do i learn from home how to do this? Is there and online correspondence course I can take? Should I get some books from the library? Perhaps make a dress dummy and start draping and measuring and make things that way? What? My sister can measure  and look at something and make it without a pattern. I think this is awesome, but she lives in Fl and I'm in AZ. It's kinda hard to have her teach me long distance.
266  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Martha Jones from Dr Who Poppet on: November 06, 2007 07:19:25 AM
This is the second doll in a series of Dr Who Characters that I'm creating for my boy's Christmas presents.

Martha Jones

Close up of her Face.

Her face and boots are painted on with acrylics. Her earrings are toggles and her necklace is a silver wire that I wrapped around a skewer to make a spring, and then attached a glass bead to. Her hair is fake fur.
I used the back side of Alova suede for her body. She has a sculptured bum, lady parts, navel and breasts.
267  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Dr Who doll from Pretty Poppet pattern on: November 02, 2007 10:28:56 AM
Yay! He's finished. I made some slight alterations to Ghilie's pattern. And I still have to make his sonic screwdriver and some other Dr Who characters. So without further ado, meet "The New New Doctor."

His face is painted on with acrylics. I used Ghilie's idea of making a stencil from freezer paper to get the eyes even.

I made him for my first son's 8th birthday on Monday. He sat and watched me painting the face yesterday and practically climbed into my lap, he was so excited.

edit: I gave him the doll on Friday, when I picked him up from school. His teacher let him have a show and tell and he told the class all about "The Doctor." I'm glad he was pleased with my creation.

268  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Discussion and Questions / help with flip doll pattern on: October 31, 2007 09:38:39 PM
I remember seeing only a few of these in my lifetime, and would like to make one. It was a red riding hood doll one way, and then you flipped her around, and she was the wolf in grandma's night dress. Does anyone here know where to find such a pattern, or know how to go about drafting one? If I had one to look at I could figure it out myself, but it's been years since I last saw one.
269  CLOTHING / Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Completed Projects / Who says basic has to be black. My basic brown dress on: October 27, 2007 10:26:05 AM
I love this dress pattern. I can change the camisole and the accessories for totally different looks. On Sunday I wore it with a pink undershirt and a narrow ribbon wrapped just under my bust line with a little bow to give it an empire waist line.
I made another dress with this same pattern, but I don't have a picture yet. I'll post here when I do.
Mccalls pattern # M5485
Here's the brown one:

It looked so much better in the mirror. I hate myself in pictures! LOL!
270  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / My turn of the last century easter bonnet on: October 26, 2007 05:05:25 PM
I copied this from a 1910 Sears catalogue. My grandmother has another version, much bigger in reds. i used to wear it. Now it's just decoration.
