I haven't posted on here in forever, but I just finished a project that was started forever ago and it seemed like great closure to the project. I knit a pair of socks from S n B by Debbie Stoller. I kept the pattern almost identical except for the colorways. the pattern is for 4 colors, I only used 3. I kept the stripes the same size though just repeated more often.

I'm also SO happy image hosting is easier on here these days!
If you'd like to read more about my three year adventure in knitting these, I recently started a craft blog at
http://www.fromtwohands.blogspot.com/2013/07/the-three-year-knee-socks.html where i went into hefty details. hope you guys like it!

5  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: massive giant rainbow scarf! on: January 06, 2012 09:16:26 PM
thank you for all the positive responses! i'm glad you all like it so much Smiley

i used super bulky yarn, it was nothing special just a few brands from the craft store. i can't remember what hook i used either but it was one of the ridiculously large plastic ones. like i said it was a bit of a mistake but basically just crochet and crochet till you can't anymore. i think each color was a row of double crochet or one of single with another of hdc.

i've been trying to make a big variety of things the past few months but i only recently got a chance to take some pictures. its been busy but super fun and satisfying!

7  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / massive giant rainbow scarf! on: January 03, 2012 08:49:54 PM
i don't usually do HUUUUGE things or use this much color, but a friend asked me to make a rainbow scarf so when i started to crochet it turned into this monster. i ended up making her one back to scale, so now i'm left with this big guy
for the record, its only 8 inches wide but around 14 feet long. (oopsie!)

thanks for looking Smiley

9  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: dip dyed ombre shorts on: June 08, 2011 03:31:02 PM
wow, thanks! to be honest its not specific timing or measuring ingredients, its more of a trial and error kind of thing. to give you some timing though (depending on the jeans) each layer soaks for around ten minutes then i dip them in further and so on. but you really just have to sit and keep an eye on them

When i finally get to come home at the end of the semester, i try to do as much crafting as possible.
lately i've been having a lot of fun buying mom jeans from goodwill and savers and other thrift stores and making cool shorts out of them.
first i did a lot of pairs with the "ombre" bleached look, but this week i made a pair that i LOVE using the same technique but with dye instead of bleach. so i just wanted to show them off a bit!

this came from a pair of blue dkny jeans:

and then this is some of the pairs i did before using just bleach

hope you guys like them Smiley
