601  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Box of Color Gallery on: March 08, 2014 10:35:39 AM
I received a purpleicious box of wonderment from Isikkahjai today! She really 'got' me - everything is so wonderful - thank you SO much! This is going to be a pic heavy post - so some of them I will add as thumbnails!

Firstly I'll show you the bought items she sent me

Beads!!!! (I LOVE beads!) These are actually a lot more purple than the pic shows - I could not get light / colour right today Sad

A great big heart pendant - I love this - I have so many heart shaped beads etc - and this is so BIG! I can't wait to use it for something

on the 'big' theme - this massive lobster clasp and another pretty pendanty type thing. A necklace IsikkahJai crafted for me has one of these pendants on - so I am going to use this one to make a matching bracelet Smiley

Pretty fabric trims

lots of purple letter stickers:

Pretty purple wool to make a scarf (though I may use it to make a fabulously loopy bag!)

Then I got some pretty pebbles / shells / sea glass to start off my collection Smiley

Right - onto the exciting stuff - the millions of crafted items she sent me! I thought I had gone OTT with her - but she has made me SO many things - my parcel now seems substandard!!!

Pretty embroidered tiny skull hoopla - it is so small and her stitches are so perfect - I am envious!

there was a stand in the box - which I think was to hold the hoopla - if not, it is now - it is the perfect size!

Some awesome notecards with embroidered sign language on them - these are AWESOME!!!!

I need help though! I know the alphabet in BSL - which I don't think this is! I think the bottom two say love and peace - but I would love to know what the top two say?

They even had pretty decorated envelopes

My very first Teesha Moore Patch (I think?) Which really made me chuckle I will be sewing this onto a bag I think

S is for....Sarah Smiley

so pretty!

A very pretty necklace with one of the pendants I showed you earlier - looking forward to making my matching bracelet

I have wanted a purple Tree Of Life pendants so much for sooooooooo long - and Isikkahjai sent me one! I can't begin to tell you how pleased I am with this - I put it on as soon as I had taken a photo and haven't taken it off since - I LOVE it!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

this pendant was attached to the closure of the Tree Of Life pendant - but it is far too pretty to be hidden behind me - so I am thinking I may repurpose it into a more visible pendant!

and lastly - the piece de resistance - a stencilled hoody - with a wonderful purple dragon - this has also been on since I got it - and will be lived in from now on I think!

and because I love it so much - a couple of action shots - I NEVER do action shots - so you are privileged!!!

(note the TOL!)

I was admitted to hospital last Sunday - and didn't get out until Thursday - yesterday I slept all day - so have had a craptastic week and was feeling really down in the dumps - this package has REALLY cheered me up.

Thanks again - so much! XXX

603  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Jewellery box (IsikkahJai dont look til you've received!) on: March 08, 2014 08:59:50 AM
For my wonderful partner IsikkahJai in the recent box of colour swap I decorated and sent a little wooden box as a jewellery box. I bought the box in a local craft store - and 2000 flat backed gems from ebay (1000 of each colour).

I painted the box with a couple of coats of orange (the colour theme for the box was orange and turquoise) and then got glueing! After 4 days of glueing I can honestly say if I ever see a flat backed gem again it will be WAY too soon! These things were TINY - and it took me forever!

Then I got 4 big wooden beads from my stash and painted them orange. The colour did not take as the beads had a gloss varnish on - so I got out my file and filed them right down to the wood - getting rid of varnish and pattern - and then painted them orange again - they still took three coats - but it did adhere a lot better. I cut out felt circles which I glued onto the wooden beads - before attaching the beads to the bottom of the box. I then glued a butterfly charm onto the front of the box.

I then covered it with a gloss varnish to give it even more sparkle

I did not take photos of the inside for some reason - but the top and bottom of the inside were lined with more orange felt - the sides on the inside I left bare.

Anyhow - photos! Firstly the lid....

the front - which shows the butterfly and the feet - I glued the feet on in a diamond formation rather than a square - just to be different!

and the bottom/feet

Anyhow - I hope you like it, but more importantly I hope my partner likes it!!

Also meant to add I love the butterfly art (am pinning it) and the beaded bracelet is so pretty! I NEED that sign as well "Welcome to my loose interpretation of clean" and am also pinning that! Everything is so wonderful in this gallery, I can't wait for my partner to receive or me to receive hers!!!

606  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / hospital entertainment! on: March 05, 2014 04:24:37 PM
I am currently in hospital feeling rather sorry for myself. in order to pass some time I asked my husband to bring me in some of my beading supplies. I only have basic supplies so I have been doing strung things but I like how they have turned out so thought I would share.

First I made myself a simple bracelet:

When one of the other patients saw me playing she said how much she loved beaded bracelets and then jokingly asked me to make her one, so I did:

She was really pleased with it and asked what I wanted for it but I told her it was a present. She commented on how much she liked it and the fact it had red in as red is one of the colours she does not have a bracelet in, so as a surprise I made her another one which was all red:

Then I was fed up of simple stringing and wanted to try something new so I made this one it is strung on three wires, the big purple beads string all three and between them are three seed beads, one on each wire, I quite like the effect! The light is all out as photo was taken on my phone using flash:

Then today I spent most of my time making this necklace. I am slightly undecided about the purple seed beads, do people think it would look better in a green colour?

An awful photo of me wearing it so you can see how it hangs:

Thanks for looking all comments welcome, constructive criticism encouraged =)

Btw the wire findings on my earlier bracelets were the first I have ever created myself. They're far from perfect but I am quite proud of them!!

Hwllo lovely swappers. Just to keep you all in the loop and not let you think I have ran away I have been admitted to hospital this evening.  Please keep signing up for the swap and I will add you all ASAP. sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.  If I have not added people by Wednesday I will ask somebody to temporarily take over.  I do have my kindle with me so depending on what happens I should hopefully not be too delayed!
