1  Grommet bag in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by kellygee on: October 11, 2009 03:32:48 PM
Gosh!!   I haven't made a bag in such a long time!!  This is one I whipped up today.  It's basically a jordy bag, inspired by this pattern that I saw stitched up at my local quilt shop.  The fabrics are from Hobby Lobby.

2  Flight of the Conchords bag for Sis! in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by kellygee on: April 29, 2009 05:04:27 PM

So, I made this bag for my sister (she's a big fan!).  The bag itself is a mash-up; dash of this, pinch of Buttercup!  I actually used the pattern piece for the lining of the Buttercup for the body of the bag.  The embroidery pattern for Brett & Jemaine is here.

I haven't given it to her yet, but, I'm pretty sure she's gonna love it!

3  Buttercup! in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by kellygee on: April 23, 2009 09:35:23 AM

I am really lovin' this pattern!  Thanks to Rae for sharing her wonderful pattern!

I did enlarge the pattern by 125%, and I used fusible Peltex to give it some body.  What a mistake that was!  It gives the bag some nice stability, but, I could never quite press all the wrinkles out and the pleating nearly killed me!

4  Over the Top Bag with kanzashi flower pin in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by kellygee on: February 06, 2009 09:47:29 AM

So, I've seen this bag here and there over the last couple of months.  But, it wasn't until a gal I work with pointed out this contest (from the most recent issue of Quilts and More) that I finally decided to give it a go.

It's my first go at it, so it's a little rough around the edges.  Next time I'll probably use a more hefty interfacing.  I also machine stitched the handle into the bottom seam, instead of the hand stitching that the instructions recommend.  I don't hand stitch unless absolutely necessary!  Wink  I had a little trouble top-stitching the handle to the body of the bag, just the mechanics of fabric vs. machine.  It's not as flat as I'd like at the bottom seam.

Overall, a super-cute little bag and super-easy to put together.  Only took about 2 hours.

The flower was made following this tutorial, with this video for additional help with the petal folding.

I just love this pattern!!

Front of the bag (or is it the back?)

Back of the bag (or is it the front?)
(The pleats at the top kind of messed with the Beatles logo!)

Pattern is Amy Butler, Frenchy Bag
