2  Opinions on my new logo and banner? in Selling Crafts on Etsy.com by taped_on_wings on: July 17, 2007 07:45:25 PM
Hey, I just started a new etsy shop (Robot *Heart* Squid) since I found out that my other one is already used as someone else's crafty domain.

Anyhoo, I wanted a logo that was a heart made to look like a gear.  After a lot of drawing, I came up with this:

My question, what do you think?  Does the heart look like a gear?  Have I accomplished my mission?  Criticize me!

3  Re: Baby items knit-a-long? in Knitalongs by taped_on_wings on: January 28, 2007 07:12:43 PM
I've been doing a bit of destashing, and came across four balls of Lion Brand's Watercolors -- enough for these two items.  The cardigan is a free pattern from the site, and the hat was just made up.  They're also for my cousin.

Here's my baby bounty so far.  These are for my cousin who's due any second now.

Pixie Hat front -- and a shout out to Sir Ducky, the best model ever Wink:

and side:

I made another hat that's on reserve for my best friend (assuming she'll have a girl), who just found out she was expecting again.  I also found a pattern for a super cute hoodie that I'm going to start once I know what color would be good.

5  Re: 2007 Color Craft-A-Long in Craftalongs by taped_on_wings on: January 22, 2007 04:22:17 PM
I've had a skein of Red Heart's "Mexicana" color laying around forever.   This year I'm knitting for charity, and I was able to get a 15" square Snuggle (size for a cat) and two Warm Up America! squares out of it.

Here's the animal blanket:

6  Re: New Knitty's Calorimetry in Knitalongs by taped_on_wings on: January 08, 2007 05:08:24 PM
I made this about a week ago.  I cast on only 80 sts and used Plymouth's (?) Paris Rainbow.

I don't think it's actually a striping yarn, but I love how the colors landed.  It's a lot brighter in person.

7  Knitted marionette sculpture in Knitting: Completed Projects by taped_on_wings on: December 26, 2006 06:31:02 PM
The final project for my sculpture class was to create a 'thing' that implied something.  After way too many project changes, I came up with this.  Knit in Patons Classic Merino and Bernat Softee Chunky.

The hands were made using Knitty's Urban Rustic Gloves pattern and then felted so they could be formed to realistically hold the scissors.  For the 'arms' I just picked up stitches and knit a few rounds.  The first one in the picture is already felted.

Here's the finished puppet sitting in my dad's recliner.  It's faceless so it can be anyone you want...and it's more than 4 feet tall.  Knit in two weeks.  I used the basic shaping and finishing directions for the Knit Your Own Rockstar in SNBN, but the rest was completely made up.

I was so mad that I forgot my camera and had to use my crappy phone.  This is it all set up -- a marionette cutting himself lose.  And yes, what it's attached to is supposed to resemble a cross.  The scissors are real (although I tried to knit those too).

I got an A.   Grin

I can't believe I forgot to post my blue craft!  I used this as my Halloween costume, seeing that I just got to stay home and hand out candy.

9  Re: Projects from World of Knitting Toys in Knitting: Completed Projects by taped_on_wings on: October 03, 2006 03:29:54 PM
Haha...I finally finished the turtle.  I used Red Heart's Bright & Lofty, because for some reason I had so much of it.  So it's a huge patchwork floor cushion that my cats are afraid of!   Cheesy

The orange thing is a ruler.

10  Re: Procrastination Station: Get Motivated! Never too late to join! in Craftalongs by taped_on_wings on: September 30, 2006 03:08:20 PM
Mixed Media Sculpture

*Sketch out ideas - at least five pictures
*Make mock-up

By the end of Sept:
*Craft supply round-up for garage sale
*Tons of cat toys
*Finish knit turtle

*Start dino mittens
*Finish tube socks

I've been so busy with class lately -- Last week was dedicated soley to the freeform knitting part, and yesterday I got the entire chicken wire body form done!  I'm going to try to take pictures next week.

Today I sewed and stuffed all the pieces of the turtle I've been working on forever.  It was a destashing project using the pattern from The World of Knitted Toys and Red Heart Bright and Lofty (instead of DK weight).  So instead of it being 10 in. long, it's a 3 feet long floor cushion.  Tongue

The orange thing at the top is a ruler...
