1  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Yen Picture Frame on: May 22, 2008 07:41:00 PM
Hey craftsters!  Tongue Ok so here's the story...
I went to Japan this Spring to visit my sister. She's studying at Kansai Gaidai and she gets back home this Sunday^^

So... I thought I would make her a special 'Welcome Home' gift...I had a ton of yen left over from my trip(50 yen coins and 1 yen coins mainly--*very worthless*), so I decided to do something useful with them.
Behold-- The yen picture frame!(it has a random pic I took of some Japanese hill, but my sis can change it lol)

(Hanging up on her lime green wall)

btw, I used Butterick pattern 3873... pretty straightforward(which is saying something cuz i am pattern-illiterate lolz)

Here is a pic of the supa cool canvas material

And here is the bag Smiley

Another pic of the bag w/ the sparkly-pink lining <3

Hope this works out, I'm not used to craftster technology...
3  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / sew-er in distress!! please help!! on: December 01, 2007 02:44:45 PM
hey craftsters, i have a serious sewing problem... im a newbe sew-er, and im making a bag for my sister's xmas gift. the fabric is light corduroy w/ thick-ish fusible interfacing & the lining is cotton. I initially had no problem sewing this together, but in the middle of my sewing, the fabric started to pucker/gather. its like the interfacing is stretching, and pulling the lining away from it!! i've tried readjusting the tension, stitch lenght, changing needles, but i have no clue whatelse to do! please help... Huh

5  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / wtf is a slipstitch? on: November 06, 2007 03:24:20 PM
hi craftsters^^ ok, so i'm making a bag from a pattern, and right now i'm on the pocket-- so, i took a rectangular piece of cotton, sewed the edges leaving an opening, and now i need to sew the opening... with a slipstitch. the problem is, even though the pattern defines the term, i still have no idea what to do. so does anyone know what exactly a slipstitch means, and how i can sew that opening-- in terms that a not-so-bright person like myself could understand? thanks!
6  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / help?? same problem every time i sew!! on: September 23, 2007 08:39:27 AM
This is probably really obvious, but i'm new at sewing, and i've been having the same problem each project i do...

ok, so every time i try to sew like a bulky fold, the machine stops guiding the fabric, and it keeps sewing in the same place, resulting in a big knot of thread at the bottom. it it the tension?? i've read that you're not supposed to guide the fabric cuz it ruins the needle, but what else am i supposed to do?? thanx to anyone who replies, i really need help... ^^
