1  Key-to-Your-Heart Earrings in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by peelslowly on: April 26, 2010 05:46:37 PM
I made these for a handmade swap I'm doing with some ladies on another forum. I found the key and locket charms on clearance at Hobby Lobby, and the other beads were from a stash of Christmas presents.  Cheesy

2  Snickerdoodles in Winter Holidays by peelslowly on: December 20, 2009 12:26:58 AM
My friend is having a Christmas movie marathon at her house tomorrow, and I wanted to bring some goodies to bring us all together in the Christmas spirit. It's basically going to be me, my love, and her friends that I don't really know, so I wanted to bring cookies to help us all bond as we're watching movies together!

It was a really easy recipe; altogether, it only took me about an hour to make them. It was a simple sugar cookie recipe, but with a bit more flour added to make them puffier. I rolled them into balls and then rolled them in the cinnamon-sugar (3 tablespoons sugar, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon).

And here's a close-up. I love how the sugar sparkles!

'Tis all! Merry Christmas!

3  No-Sew, non-traditional tree skirt, and a gold-and-red wreath! pics included :) in Winter Holidays by peelslowly on: November 12, 2008 10:49:51 AM
So, in our bedroom, my husband and I have an 18" pink tree. Smiley We wanted something as equally awesome for a tree skirt (to cover up the hideous base and wires). I discovered a fabulous placemat at Target for $3 and thought it would be perfect, my husband didn't agree because he didn't want a square tree skirt, but I did it anyway and he ended up loving it...and so it began:

Now, being that I can't sew, and I had the fabric glue right next to me, this only took about an hour (including drying time)!

Drying the cut edges:

Drying the hole-seams:

Close-up of the pattern:

All pretty:

And here's a wreath my husband made for us. All I contributed was the ribbon, really. Cheesy I think it's beautiful!

4  Gift Card Holders + Finished Gifts (yay!) Lots o' Pics! in Winter Holidays by peelslowly on: November 05, 2008 09:58:33 PM
I'm so proud of myself for finishing some of these gifts this early! I'm also kind of sad that I don't have much more to make, though.  Undecided

But, here's the bulk of my Christmas this year...

My sisters, mom-in-law, and grandma-in-law are getting these lotion/soap sets:

Cucumber--

Label reads: "Melonia a la Jordan et Janie" (we just made it up, lol) a fantastique lotion experience

Pink Grapefruit--

Label reads: "Le Pink Fruit de Grapes" an exotic excursion into fruity euphoria (hahah)

For my dad-in-law who is about all things Blu-Ray and HD--

For my little brother-in-law, gory soap (he's also getting some DVDs) --

It looks more red in real life.

For his aunts and uncles I made soap. I put them in little buckets that they can just place on their vanities--

Scents (from left to right): Coconut&Plumeria (with blueberry seeds), Tropical Linen; Grape (w/ blueberry seeds), Pink Grapefruit, Seaside; Vanilla-Blueberry (smells amazing!), Leafy Linen, Ocean.

Here they are, all wrapped up and ready to go--

And, my solution to gift cards: more buckets, lol. My 10-year-old niece reads a few books a WEEK, so my husband and I thought a Border's gift card was in order.

And my 8-year-old nephew is just...weird (and adorably hilarious)! His favorite store is Walgreens (?!?) -- seriously!

And there you have it. I think the only things I have left to make are soaps for my mom (I haven't decided yet), and a set of handmade cards for my husbands other grandma. I'll post pics of those when I get them, though.

Comments welcome!

5  Zombie Chirdren and a Pumpkin in Halloween Costumes by peelslowly on: November 04, 2008 09:59:46 PM
My lover did the make-up for my niece and nephew this year, as they wanted to be zombies with their guts hanging out, and my husband is a Horror film-freak. It all worked out, and here is our Halloween!

He used twisty balloons and poured on the fake blood. I thought it was brilliant; he and my brother even made the kids "artery sprays" by attaching a deflated, punctured balloon to a travel-sized lotion bottle filled with fake blood. They got a lot of compliments...some really cheesy ones like, "you kids got guts!" Hahaha.

The kids practicing their "Zombie walk:"

Practicing with blood caplets and pretending the lawn stake is coming to get him, lol:

And, finally, our carved pumpkin. My brother did this, and I think it look amazing.  Grin

6  First 'Show Off My Cards' Post --- a bit image heavy in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by peelslowly on: September 30, 2007 04:41:10 AM
This one's simple, just a patterned paper butterfly.

Flowers in a pot with buttons and layered paper. A flower punch for effect.

A random "Just saying HELLO card" with a cat (from a calendar) coming through the window.

Christmas! (Wow, early.)

Valentines! (Whew, super early!)
I don't know if you can see it in the picture, but the little box (in card #2) is actually 3-D.

And a birthday card for my little brother-in-law. With googly eyes!

Comments very welcome. Smiley
