Super cute! I love making stuff out of ties too!
12  COOKING / Dessert / Re: The best banana bread recipe I have EVER found! on: April 20, 2009 09:23:50 PM
This is very similar to a recipe that I have except I use five bananas in mine and I actually roast them in the oven for ten minutes. The recipe is in David Rosengarten's It's All American Food. You should check it out! It has Cinnamon Crumble topping. Yummmm!
13  COOKING / Dessert / Re: Black & White Cake?? on: April 12, 2009 01:01:15 PM
If you are making a black cake, I would recommend making a chocolate cake and then using the black food colouring. It allows you to use far less of the dye and it tastes much better too!
14  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / Re: Building a PVC spinning wheel on: April 08, 2009 10:08:47 PM
I too am creating a spinning wheel. I'm making it for my sculpture project as an assignment and I'm creating it out of found materials. If my project is successful I'll be sure to post my final results! I found that searching for spinning videos on YouTube to be really helpful for my design process. Searching specifically for "spinning wool" produced the most helpful vids. Also, the glacialwanderer link, though kind of confusing and vague in its instructions is quite helpful as well in terms of figuring out the bobbin and flyer. Good luck!

18  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: coin rings! i'm an addict!!! on: February 18, 2008 11:04:19 PM
Very cool! I was researching these recently. I'm hoping to make some to sell in the future. To ensure that I will stay out of the US Mint's way, I'm planning on using the fifty cent pieces that are no longer in circulation. That seems the safest way. However...in all my research on the laws of coins, it says that defacing money for the purpose of recirculating it for gain is illegal. So in other words, somehow magically making a penny into a quarter or the much more feasible act of making a $10 bill into a $20.

So craft on!

I love that yarn! Do you have the label at all? I would love to know what kind that is!

Glorious! Did you glue those together or did you attach them to something?
