1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: Recycled jeans brush roll (link to tutorial in Spanish) on: February 14, 2010 09:32:15 AM
I always love to see recycled jean ideas and brush roll is fabulously done.  And the link to it ....thanks.  I can always use a brush up on my Spanish. Grin

Hehe, thanks for your reply, Soledad Cheesy

Recently, I'm loosing some weight, so I have like four or five pairs of jeans that are too big for me already, plus, they're kind of old. I have been waiting to use the pretty and shiny sewing machine my bf got me for Christmas (the first one that I own and use!) and I couldn't wait to experiment with recycling jeans. So, I grabbed the oldest pair and some cheap orange fabric I got from the neighbourhood flea market and made this roll for my brushes, pencils, etc.

At first I thought that using the bottom border of the trouser leg would be a cool grunge touch. When it was finished, I realized I didn't like it that much, so now I'll change it with an orange ribbon as soon as I get it from the flea market.

I made this kind of tutorial in my blog (http://maicillo.blogspot.com/2010/02/tutorial-portapinceles.html), however, it's in Spanish. You can see the pictures of the process, though. I think it's kind of intuitive, since I myself didn't even make a pattern or anything before starting.

Now I can't wait to make more with different fabrics and more pockets!

I hope you like it Smiley
3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Second shoulder bag! on: September 06, 2009 07:52:02 AM
Yesterday, I wrote this post (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=320002.0) about my first shoulder bag. Well, today I'm amazed at how quickly I can make this kind of bag!

Again, following this tutorial (http://tinyhappy.typepad.com/tiny_happy/2006/06/shoulder_bag_tu.html) but changing the pattern a bit so that it only has one seam, I managed to make this in, like, 3 hours!

I'm happier with this bag than with the previous one. This time the cheap Chinese sewing machine behaved a little bit!

Now I must go and get some buttons to finish them! Smiley Please, let me know what you think!

I wanted to start making handbags for such a long time now, and I finally decided to drop by the flea market and buy some remnants. I found a couple of nice pieces of fabric and some cheap ones for lining.

This is my first (unfinished) attempt on bag making. I followed this lovely tutorial (http://tinyhappy.typepad.com/tiny_happy/2006/06/shoulder_bag_tu.html) and, despite my 15 sewing machine my bf got me from the Chinese store and my almost non-existent ability to sew, I managed to do something, I think, sort of decent! Smiley

I still have to find a big green button to be able to close it. Anyway, this was a kind of test. I'll try to make a new one with a nicer remnant I got. I'll post it here, too.

I hope you like it Smiley Opinions are welcome!
5  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Re: Digital tablet felt bag on: April 05, 2009 01:17:27 PM
I've got one of these too and I hate that it didn't come with anything to cover it (I live with five cats, hehe). Thanks for the idea, I think I'll have to make one of these for mine!

Hehe, unfortunately, I don't live with cats but I was quite scared it got scratched with my laptop while carrying it around (because I do it all the time). So, I hope this solves my problems! Smiley If you make one, please let me see it Wink

Pretty and neat!  I like the colour scheme ^^

Thank you so much! Smiley

This is my first attempt on bag-making, therefore I decided to start with something easy. Bf got me this brand new and shiny Wacom tablet for Christmas and it really deserved a nice, cozy bed to sleep in. So, I grabbed some felt and some fabric I'd kept for ages and made this:

Iit's not completely finished. I'm still thinking how I'm gonna close it. Maybe velcro...

I hope you like it! I'm quite proud of it myself Smiley
