1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Witch/Wiccan/Pagan swap rd 9 Yule/Winter Holiday Card Gallery! on: December 13, 2008 05:20:51 PM
Oh good, I'm glad the cards are reaching their destinations! I didn't go to the post office to make sure my cards were the right weight - I just slapped stamps on that I had at home. So, I was a bit worried.

I'm glad they're arriving.  Cheesy

I happen to LOVE the Brrrrrrrrrrrrr weather. Along with the ice, sleet, cold, and snow. I even enjoyed shoveling the driveway in upstate NY - even though people told me it would get old soon enough. But, nope, I LOVED it.

I used to volunteer to shovel my neighbor's driveway for fun as well, lol.

What can I say? I'm weird like that. Wink

So, if anyone wants their driveway shoveled, free of charge, you know who to call.  Tongue Roll Eyes

I thought I'd share a photo of the backyard. I've never seen it in this color before!

Sadly, it's almost all melted today. Sad But, as I'm going to Poland this January ... I know I'll see plenty of the white stuff then.  Cheesy

On a swap related note, I'm slooooowly moving along. However, I shall definitely be ready to send before (or on) the final date.

I got snow!!

In Louisiana!

Enough to make snowmen.  Cheesy

I'm so excited. I used to live in upstate NY, and I miss the snow SO much.

Of course, now, I'm without power and freezing .... however, the snow totally makes it worth it.  Grin

Anyway, just wanted to throw that out there. Carry on.  Wink

Thanks for the warm thoughts. Smiley

I am doing better. Am surprisingly good at typing with my left hand.

I go up on the roof every year ... so this was a first for me. It was my own fault - I totally got careless, and knew it was a bad idea to go up when the roof was still wet. Alas, I decided not to listen to that little voice inside!

Not listening to the little voice inside = bad idea.

On the bright side, I've had a lot of time to seriously sit down and learn how to crochet. I'll be the only right handed person, crocheting with my left, lol. Wink It's going surprisingly well, though.

I received today from our wonderful organizer - pinkleo.  Grin

Everything is so amazing - I just love it.

This is an amazing shirt with the man who I will marry. Wink Click for the closer image of my Severus. It's such a great image ... I just love this shirt so much.

Then, we have some HP goodies - chocolate frog (yum), a moving bookmark of my future husband, and (this is so cool) a time turner!

Next we have a "I heart HP" bookmark and a Slytherin bracelet. I have to support my future husband's house. Ahem. Moving on. Wink

A wonderful Slytherin scarf - it is silver and green. The colors just would not photograph correctly. But, it's wonderful, and (I don't know why) but it smells yummy.

A spectacular golden snitch - such a great job on this!

Finally, potions earrings. These are so cool - there's actual liquid in them. Like real potions bottles. I might wear them for my wedding with Severus. Ahem. Sometimes I get carried away. Wink

Thank you SO much pinkleo - I really love everything. Smiley

Oh no!  I hope you're okay, Ecstatic!  You have an above the elbow wrist, or forearm only?  Hopefully it's just the latter 'cause you have better mobility...

The forearm got the worst of it, fortunately. The rest is just bruised. Actually the whole half of my body is bruised. But, I have some arnica for this, so it's not too bad. Though, the doctor did say that if I had to fall off a roof, I fell in the best possible way, lol.

Thank you all for the warm wishes. I'm feeling quite good today, though that could be the mulled wine talking. Wink Just kidding, of course. Thanks again. Smiley

Anyone know a really good cure for overly dry to the point of cracking heels? I'm dying this year. I've tried everything I can think of - no go.

I would do a hot soak in either baking soda or Epsom salts - nightly. Then, I'd rub some type of moisturizer onto your feet (even Vaseline works), and then put socks over that. Leave the socks on overnight.

Repeat over and over and over until you get to a point where it's comfortable to use a pumice stone. Use a pumice stone on your heels - again, nightly. It's especially important to use it in the area that is prone to cracks. Then, slap the moisturizer on again, then the socks on again (which stay on all night).

I use this method, and I'm a bit of a barefooter ... in other words I like to walk barefoot everywhere, not just in the house.  Wink Cracked heels are a problem for a lot of barefooters, but I haven't had any issues in using my method.

If you've already tried this ... I've got nothing.  Sad

Fortunately, I am all done with my crafting for this swap. I'm just going to hunt down a few extras, but other than that I am done.

I'll be sending on time, as a result. Which is fortunate as I fell off my roof (while putting up lights) over the weekend and badly fractured my right (dominant) arm. So, I wouldn't have been able to do much crafting in this last week!

I meant to do a few more extras, but I think I'll have to forgo those due to not being able to embroider with my left hand.

Anyway - I'll be sending next week, no worries. Smiley

Well, I took a tumble off of my roof this weekend. And wound up badly fracturing my right arm. Which should make crafting fun, lol, considering I am right handed.

I've been in a haze of painkillers all weekend long. But, I'm finally coming out of it.

That will teach me to put lights up on the roof!

Anyway, I probably will not be sending as early as I had hoped. I will definitely send on time ... and, maybe, if priority isn't too backed up it will get there for Yule!

As it is, right now, I only have my smalls completely finished. However, I did find a lot of fun extras at various places.  Cheesy

I received three new cards.  Cheesy From MrsZeddies, Lunakitten, and Phildude.

Also, I have sent all my cards out as of this morning. Smiley
