Oh good, I'm glad the cards are reaching their destinations! I didn't go to the post office to make sure my cards were the right weight - I just slapped stamps on that I had at home. So, I was a bit worried.
I happen to LOVE the Brrrrrrrrrrrrr weather. Along with the ice, sleet, cold, and snow. I even enjoyed shoveling the driveway in upstate NY - even though people told me it would get old soon enough. But, nope, I LOVED it.
I used to volunteer to shovel my neighbor's driveway for fun as well, lol.
What can I say? I'm weird like that.
So, if anyone wants their driveway shoveled, free of charge, you know who to call.
I thought I'd share a photo of the backyard. I've never seen it in this color before!
Sadly, it's almost all melted today. But, as I'm going to Poland this January ... I know I'll see plenty of the white stuff then.
On a swap related note, I'm slooooowly moving along. However, I shall definitely be ready to send before (or on) the final date.
I am doing better. Am surprisingly good at typing with my left hand.
I go up on the roof every year ... so this was a first for me. It was my own fault - I totally got careless, and knew it was a bad idea to go up when the roof was still wet. Alas, I decided not to listen to that little voice inside!
Not listening to the little voice inside = bad idea.
On the bright side, I've had a lot of time to seriously sit down and learn how to crochet. I'll be the only right handed person, crocheting with my left, lol. It's going surprisingly well, though.
Oh no! I hope you're okay, Ecstatic! You have an above the elbow wrist, or forearm only? Hopefully it's just the latter 'cause you have better mobility...
The forearm got the worst of it, fortunately. The rest is just bruised. Actually the whole half of my body is bruised. But, I have some arnica for this, so it's not too bad. Though, the doctor did say that if I had to fall off a roof, I fell in the best possible way, lol.
Thank you all for the warm wishes. I'm feeling quite good today, though that could be the mulled wine talking. Just kidding, of course. Thanks again.
Anyone know a really good cure for overly dry to the point of cracking heels? I'm dying this year. I've tried everything I can think of - no go.
I would do a hot soak in either baking soda or Epsom salts - nightly. Then, I'd rub some type of moisturizer onto your feet (even Vaseline works), and then put socks over that. Leave the socks on overnight.
Repeat over and over and over until you get to a point where it's comfortable to use a pumice stone. Use a pumice stone on your heels - again, nightly. It's especially important to use it in the area that is prone to cracks. Then, slap the moisturizer on again, then the socks on again (which stay on all night).
I use this method, and I'm a bit of a barefooter ... in other words I like to walk barefoot everywhere, not just in the house. Cracked heels are a problem for a lot of barefooters, but I haven't had any issues in using my method.
If you've already tried this ... I've got nothing.
Fortunately, I am all done with my crafting for this swap. I'm just going to hunt down a few extras, but other than that I am done.
I'll be sending on time, as a result. Which is fortunate as I fell off my roof (while putting up lights) over the weekend and badly fractured my right (dominant) arm. So, I wouldn't have been able to do much crafting in this last week!
I meant to do a few more extras, but I think I'll have to forgo those due to not being able to embroider with my left hand.
