11  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Deskbots - Robot Desk Organizers on: November 18, 2007 05:09:10 PM
OK.  Not sure where these projects go, but it does involve some needlepoint.  I made two of these.  One for a swap and one for a friend's b-day.  I got the idea from Anti-Craft, but used my own measurements and grids.

Fred (my buddy named him) in his new habitat:

12  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Harry Potter House wear plus Robot Love wristwarmers on: November 16, 2007 02:34:09 PM
Hi!

Thought I'd share some stuff I made for various swaps.  First, I made a Slytherin hat (based on the kittyville hat in SnB) and wristwarmers (based off Voodoo from Knitty) for an HP swap.

THEN I made these shorter wristwarmers for a robot-lovin swap partner:

All were made using acrylic yarn as one partner was a vegan and I had no money for fancy yarn at the time.  Hope you guys like 'em!

15  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Finishing Bamboo Needles on: September 28, 2007 08:11:09 AM
I recently bought a set of unfinished bamboo straight needles and DPNs as they were significantly cheaper.  I was wondering what I should do to finish them.  I read that varnish may make them bumpy.  I have seen that a lot of bamboo needles have been waxed to seal it, but I'm not sure what wax to use.  Or should I use some kind of wood oil?  Huh   Please help!

Thanks!
16  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / I heart zombies - needlepoint box [pic heavy] on: September 26, 2007 07:07:27 PM
I made this for the Zombies are Love swap.  It's my first needlepoint project.  I didn't realize it would take so long!  Three sides of the box are needlepoint and the 4th side is made of felt.  I lined the box w/ felt as well.

17  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Monster Movie Swap on: September 17, 2007 11:33:55 PM
Anyone interested in a monster movie swap?  Old to current day monster movies would be applicable.  Everything from the scary to the ridiculous.  I am quite partial to b-movie monsters.  Zombies, werewolves, vampires, giant/mutant insects/animals, the list goes on.  GO GO GODZILLA!

Details of swap:  Miss the good 'ol days of gaming?  I know there have been video game swaps in the past, but what's better than the old-school gaming systems?  Well, it's time to bring back the geezers of the video game world.  Anything pre-Playstation/N64/X-Box is game (nintendo, SNES, famicom, sega, atari, etc).  The pixellated characters make it pretty easy to use in almost any craft especially the needle-related variety.  Pacman, Mrs. Pacman, Q-bert, Mario Bros, Kirby, Sonic the Hedgehog, Pong, Zelda, Tetris, Skate or Die, Double Dragon, Kung-fu, you name it!

You'll have over a month to craft: 1 large, 2 medium, and 1 small item.  This is a general minimum.  You can talk w/ your partner to determine if you'd like to craft more/less.  Make sure you get delivery confirmation!  Let me and your partner know when you have sent and received.

Here are some ideas:
(I tried to find a good variety, but the majority were Nintendo.  Lemme know if you find any more I should add.  Also, there is a ton of stuff on Etsy if you need more inspiration.)

19  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Hail to the King, baby! - Bruce Campbell Swap on: August 29, 2007 09:19:31 PM
Anyone interested?  I did a search first and didn't find a previous swap.   He's a b-movie icon.  I've even read his books.  Surely there are other nerds like me out there.  Evil Dead/Army of Darkness, Bubba Ho Tep, Maniac Cop, The Adventures of Brisco County Jr, Burn Notice, Spiderman, etc.....whatever floats your boat!

I hope she likes it.  Well, I at least hope it provides laughs and humiliation.
