1  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Owly Handlebar Bag (now w/ chart!) on: August 30, 2009 12:22:21 PM
I made this bag for the Giant Theme Swap.  Two of my partner's themes were Owls/birds and bicycles, so I decided to tie the two together.  I used some variegated chunky yarn I had lying around w/ size 8s I think.  It's lined w/ an inner zip pocket.  I haven't sewed in awhile so the lining is a bit sketchy.  Oh well.  I'll probably make myself one as stuff is always falling out of my pockets when I'm bicycling.  Hope you like it!

2  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Leela Wig w/ Brainslug on: November 06, 2008 06:40:50 PM
A few weeks before halloween I decided I'd be Leela from Futurama.  And being the weirdo that I am, I also thought it would be a good idea to knit my wig and eye.  Luckily, it wasn't as bad as I had imagined.  I didn't use a pattern, I just made it up as I was going.  About two days and I had this:

and bonus brainslug:

all together:

for reference:

The brainslug was knit from this pattern -------->  http://www.johnnysstew.com/pattern/brainslug.html  I ran out of time so didn't make the tentacles.  Thanks for looking!
3  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Steve Zissou Doll on: April 06, 2008 07:15:10 PM
I made this guy for a swap.  He's kind of goofy lookin, but I like him.  I think I'll have to make one for myself.  Though next time he's getting a leg holster and glock.

4  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Knitted Gas Mask Hat on: February 20, 2008 02:59:23 PM
A friend of mine decided he wanted a knitted gas mask + hat to wear for winter bike trips to work.  Of course I offered to do it not really thinking about how I'd actually do it.  Months later (after lots of reminding) I finally finished it:

It fits pretty snug so the wind won't creep in.  He picked the colors.  The mask fits over the hat and is attached with velcro for ease of use.  He also liked the idea of the straps showing, which I wasn't sure about at first, but now think he was right as it does make it look more like a gas mask.  The canister part of the gas mask is supported by plastic canvas.  The hat part of it is from Knitty (Blue Hills).  The mask was done without a pattern, so required lots of measuring of his face.  I'm pretty happy with the result.

I used:
Brown Sheep Co. Lamb's Pride Bulky (in white and charcoal)
US 10 DPNs and circular (16")
black sew velcro
plastic canvas

9  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Super Mario World Keyhole Scarf (literally) w/ Yoshi NOW W/ CHART on: November 26, 2007 09:28:39 AM
Hi!  I made this scarf for the Retro Video Game swap.  I love it!  You put the key through the hole and you're neck is toasty.  I used acrylic yarn on DPNs then duplicate stitched the images.  I'm definitely making more.
