1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Nascar Bag on: March 07, 2008 11:35:10 AM
Hey everyone... my friend Mandi Mae wanted a bag to take with her down to Daytona a few weeks ago.. so she came over and we made this!
The measurements came from this bag: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=11394.0  but when it came down to putting it together.. I just had to do it my own way.. haha.

And the inside pockets..
One for her cell phone, one bigger one, one for a pen.. and one for a very skinny pen or pencil- woops!

She said it worked out really well for her carry on.  The only thing I would've liked to do differently is make the flap longer and put some kind of closure on it.. velcro or buttons or something.
Thanks for looking!
2  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 25 ENTRIES / Horace the Elephant on: March 05, 2008 03:00:26 PM
Hey everyone!  I'm a little nervous about this because it's my first challenge. And also my first time making up my own pattern! WOOHOO!!  Grin
Horace is representing Jackson, Michigan.  It is the birthplace of the Republican Party.   His name is Horace because a man named Horace bought 160 acres for $2 an acre in 1829 and named it Jacksonopolis.

Here is Horace visiting the historical Michigan Theatre in downtown Jackson.

Here he is on the 11th floor of the building that I work in looking over part of the city.

This is the county building...

And me and my friend Horace...

Thanks everyone.. I seriously had so much fun with this!
3  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Cabled scarf for my MIL on: February 10, 2008 08:53:37 AM
This is my first scarf.   My MIL just had open heart surgery before Christmas and requested a soft scarf to cover her scars- they really aren't bad- I think she just wanted a scarf!! haha.. anyway I used this pattern: http://members.aol.com/JSchlossma/ascarf.html  It turned out really nice- I had no idea you could make a cable in crochet!
The yarn is really soft so it's hard to see the cable.  It's much nicer in person.  Grin

Thanks for looking!!
4  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Hat and Harley Hog on: January 14, 2008 09:28:51 AM
I got this wonderful yarn for Christmas and made this hat.. since the pics were taken I added a crocheted flower.  **Please ignore the tail ... I didn't weave it in yet..   Cheesy

And.. I made this cute pig for my secret santa at work that loves Harleys...

The hat was from a pattern in a book and the pig was from a free pattern online.  If anyone is interested I can look it up and post the link..

Thanks for looking!
EDIT:  Here's the link for the pig pattern: http://www.crochetville.org/forum/showthread.php?t=27147
5  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Monitor Cozy- MEOW! on: November 07, 2007 09:18:34 AM
I got this idea from this post http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=191516.0  I didn't crochet the ears- they are felt and the pink part is embroidered.  Also I  added the "furry" part on the front by knotting short pieces of yarn into the chain when I was finished.  I was thinking a monster for the monitor next to it.. what do you think?

and some detail.....

Thanks pickled_peppers for the inspiration!!    Grin
6  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Help with a Bunny pattern on: October 21, 2007 11:40:06 AM
Hey everyone... I am having some trouble with my first crochet amigurumi....  I'm doing the Lion Brand Wool Ease Best Bunny pattern.  I did the head and was quite impressed with it but when I got to the ears... I don't know what I'm doing!
The pattern starts:
ch 2
Rnd 1: Work 4 sc in first chain.
Rnd 2 & 3: Sc in each sc around
Rnd 4: *2 sc in next sc, sc in next sc; repeat from * around- 6 sc.

And by this point my ear looks like a wadded up mess.. I cant even find my stitches!  so, if anyone has any tips for me I would really appreciate it!
Thanks guys!
7  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Embroidered Purse on: October 11, 2007 09:08:21 AM
I made this purse for my friend when she got married.  I filled it with fun stuff for their long ride to the honeymoon location...no bake cookies (her hubbie's fave) and puppy chow (her fave).. and a Soduko book.
This was my very first purse and I didn't use a pattern.  The white material was a tablecloth I found on clearance.. this is what I had left over from making curtains in my kitchen!  haha

This one is fuzzy but is shows the lining that matches the flower and my little tag with a star button and my name embroidered..
8  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Colorful Curtains on: October 09, 2007 09:14:59 AM
I made some curtains for my living room.  The sheers underneath are super bright colors that I got on clearance.. woohoo! I just had to cut and hem them to fit the shorter window.
I need some ideas for tie backs.  Right now I'm just using some thin ribbon that matches the curtains.  Any Suggestions??

Thanks for looking!!!

9  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Bag and Pin Purse (img heavy) on: September 12, 2007 01:26:00 PM
I made this purse from a pattern .. Burda 8235.. it's reversable! I was pretty proud.. I haven't used a pattern since high school! (It's been a while.)  My sewing isn't straight but that's ok.  I'm getting better.

My friend at work crocheting a purse and we were joking that she will lose her bobby pins through the holes and would need a "pin purse" and here they are.....

Thanks for looking!
