721  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: Totally Awesome 80's shirt Recon for the boy! on: April 24, 2008 05:15:17 AM
Great job!  I love the geometric design and agree that the black sleeves were the best choice and balances out the T-shirt and perfect for teens, as they seem to like a little bit of funk to show of individuality, but not too much so (just enough to get people's attention, not to make the gawk).
722  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Re: Never shared before~ Lots of dresses! on: April 18, 2008 05:42:46 AM
They are adorable!  I love the matching accessories and unique flourishes to the dresses.

It will also be special memories for your daughter in years to come to look back on the pics of her in the dress and remember when "Mommy made that for me" and having designer duds as a child.

Any Mom can go out a buy a cute dress, but not just any Mom could or would sew one, let alone several.

What a great idea to use old t-shirts - not only are the eco-friendly by using they old T's, they also are eco-friendly in not using disposible diapers.  They are also economically friendly...not only not paying of disposables, but the cost if you were to buy a ready-made reusable diaper with velcro (it may have come down in price, but when I bought one 14 years ago I paid $15 for one diaper).
724  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Skirt reconstructed out of sweat shorts, jeans & a button down shirt on: April 17, 2008 09:36:41 AM
This is the first skirt I have ever made without a pattern and first at attempting to reconstruction one.

The waistband/top of the skirt is made out of this holey pair of sweat shorts:

The 2nd tier is from my son's too small jeans:

The 3rd tier is from my son's too small button down shirt (sorry, don't have before pic).

I wanted to make it a little offbeat so I intentionally did not line up the seams and left the buttons from the shirt on the fabric for an added embellishment.

726  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: My favorite hippie skirt yet on: April 16, 2008 04:13:49 AM
Very cute!  I especially like the detailing on the contrast pocket tying into the strip at the bottom of the skirt just before the bottom ruffle.  Also thanks for sharing the tutorial...I have never tried to make a skirt from scratch before, but this is so cute it is has inspired me to try.

I love the tree one with the bleach technique and the peace fingers - they look very professional and store quality.

730  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Re: Felt pouch and pencil case on: April 13, 2008 06:29:42 AM
Cute cases!  I really like the camera one...would be good for stashing camera cords and maybe even a small inside pocket for an extra memory card or stick.
