1  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Re: Bright Red with Embarassment, but.. how do you follow a pattern???? on: March 21, 2008 01:54:14 PM
all I can say is that you're not the only one in that boat!  Except I can't make things without patterns.  I agree on buying cheap fabric so you don;t worry about making mistakes.  Good luck!
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: First knitting: I'm the OTHER kind of craftster on: November 24, 2007 09:16:02 AM
Cheesy love that smilie.  Anyhow, I've been lucky enough for dh to help me figure out the drawings or I would've never been able to start knitting.  I'm a chicken though!!  So far I've only made super easy things - scarfs, blankets, a blanket bunny (that had it's challenging moments though), and a baby hat (knitted flat then sewed up the seam).   none of it is perfect by any means but usually you can't tell unless you look closely - thanks to fluffy yarn imo.

keep trying  Smiley

Shocked  wow!!  You got so much out of one sweater, amazing!  I'm no where near talented enough to pull that off.   I'm lucky to sew a straight line  Cheesy

5  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Discussion and Questions / Re: where do you find stencils? on: August 29, 2007 07:09:53 PM
I've only stenciled one thing but.....I bought a stencil at Micheals.  I've used them to stencil things on my daughters walls but thought why not?  I'm not going to go out and buy every stencil but I figured a couple of dollars was worth the time not to cut it out myself.  It seems to have turned out well.

I bought some yesterday at Micheals too  Cheesy

Here is my first attempt on an old shirt I sleep in -

btw- I cheated and bought a stencil  Grin I was too impatient to see how it would turn out, or rather if I could make it turn out ok.  I haven't heat set it yet, but plan to tonight and throw it in with a load of towels and see how it comes out.
