2  tandem bike wedding invites in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by dittybop on: February 15, 2009 07:22:12 PM
so, i'm getting married this summer, and we're trying to DIY as much stuff as possible, including the invitations. Smiley these are something of a mock-up- the brown band will vary from invitation to invitation, and we haven't quite figured out the inside bits yet, but i'm pretty happy with the outside of the invite so far. Smiley the second pic is closer to the true color, but the first is a better detail shot. [i think.] c & c welcome...

FINALLY posting pics! Sorry it's taken forever, I'm in the middle of moving cross-country. ick. Anyway, here are the goodies!!

The group shot:

So many fun things! There was a letter explaining everything on some sweet stationary in an even sweeter envelope made from a map. ademareej's "about me" bit was a really neat free-form sketch that had lots of different elements representing different things about her- I thought it was a really neat way to express/explain a bit of herself.
There were also some gummy cherries- soooo good! I had never seen them before. They're her favorite candy, and now they're some of my favorites, too. Smiley I also received a Red Sox PEZ dispenser which is just AWESOME. yay throwback toys.
Also included were some local newspapers which have been super fun to read. I collect children's books, and ademareej gave me not one, not two, but THREE children's books! They are all super great and make awesome additions to the collection. There were some bits and bobs like pencils and THE COOLEST KEY HOLDER EVER. You can see it in the group shot- it's an owl [one of my favorite animals]. Plus other cool stuff like...

an awesome cotton crocheted washcloth and shower puff. I love them! I had totally been thinking about making one of these puffs, but I've been too lazy. :p thanks!

A sweet little box to keep my bits and bobbles in- I really needed something like this, I have little things EVERYWHERE all over my dresser, so this is perfect for that.

a handmade stamp of an elephant! a) I <3 elephants. b) I love hand-made stamps (I just started making them, too! I made the stamps that I used to make ademareej's wall art). Yay! I love it. I think I'm going to use it to make some stationary.

Some AWESOME upcylced coasters!!! They're made from strips of magazines. too cool.

Thanks for everything ademareej, you're an awesome swap partner. Smiley I can't wait to give/receive the next package!

4  warm ears, huzzah! in Knitting: Completed Projects by dittybop on: March 23, 2008 07:08:05 PM
I went on an anti-homework kick this weekend and made a quant and a calorimetry instead of writing a 15-page theory paper, hah. [I've decided that crafting is detrimental to good performance in grad school- or maybe it's just my coping mechanism... :p] anyway, without further delay:

calorimetry:

quant:

I'm not super thrilled with the yarn I used for the quant- oh well, it was a learning experience, I'm sure I'll make more. :}

I made this dress a few months ago and have been wearing it every chance I get since then...[including my user pic, hah!] It's definitely very 40's inspired, and you just can't help but love the polka dots!

7  not at 27 dresses yet, but... **edit: bigger pics [sorry!]** in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by dittybop on: January 23, 2008 10:07:07 AM
All right, I've been a lurker forever, so

So, I've been a bridesmaid/maid of honor a few times, and it just keeps happening more and more frequently. o_0 But THIS time, I got to make my dress! [best bride EVER.] I think it turned out pretty well, I love the color.

w/ the date.

me being ridiculous...

back view...

me and the rest of the ladies. sorry it's kind of a crappy photo, it was scanned in. My dress was different from the others b/c I was the maid of honor, but I used the same dark green fabric that the other brides-babes' dresses were made out of for my sash in to coordinate. I did use the wrong side out though, because I thought matte look would go better with the dupioni.

thanks for looking!
