And congratulations on one year out! I know all too well how hard it is to cope with something like that and it's so great that you're here celebrating it this way. I think it's really important to not look at bad times as a thing that shouldn't have happened, just as something that you need to experience in order to grow and become a better person. You look absolutely glowing in these pictures and it's like... too beautiful for words. Thank you for being one of those people that gives hope to others <3 I'm sure I'm not alone in appreciating that.

Excuse the dirty mirror shot. It's on my left shoulder (so you're actually seeing the reverse of what it really looks like). That picture is from right after I got it done so the colors are not as true as they are now... The nautical star (to symbolize home) is black and purple, and the smaller stars (starting from the nautical star and going out) are navy blue for my dad, turquoise for my mom, lime green for my little sister, and hot pink for me. We each chose our own colors. Purple was just chosen cause it looked good lol... sadly, the green needs to be touched up very badly. I lost a LOT of the color in a bad shower meets scab incident. I'll post a better picture when I get that done 

ooo I like the steak and tacos idea. He's not a big pork person anyway, mostly chicken, turkey, and beef. Thanks for the ideas! Especially tacos... I loveeee tacos and it totally slipped my mind! AND he's half hispanic! what an idiot I am sometimes LOL

Here's the situation:

My boyfriend and I live about 250 miles apart at the moment due to school, which is changing (for good!) in mid-May. Now... I'll be going home (where he is) just about every weekend until then. We're both engineering majors and I know the next four or five weeks are going to be super hard on him, so I want to start cooking him a meal on Friday nights.

He LOVES meat. His diet basically consists of 1/2 meat, 1/4 vegetables, 1/4 everything else. I'm vegetarian and I looooves me some carbs. I'm willing to make him a meal with meat (I haven't touched it in ten years, but I'm willing for this guy) because I'll just cook up some pasta and some tofu chicken to replace that part of my plate. And whatever it is... it's gotta be something that I can cook up quickly and easily, because this cooking's gonna be done after a day of classes followed by a five hour drive annnd while I'm fairly confident in my cooking skills (I come from a huuuge family tree of home ec teachers, dietitians, chefs, and swedish people that have all raised me right  ), i still haven't done a TON of cooking and I've never cooked meat at all.

Any help would be greatttlyyy appreciated!

I neeeeeeed gift ideas!

I've been with the boy for three months (will be four) and his birthday is in mid April. We haven't been together too too long but we're REALLY close. Back story/information:

We met first semester of freshman year at college in a writing class. We're both sophomore engineering majors, he's mechanical and I'm chemical. This is a really hard year academically for both of us. On top of that, I transferred to a different school this past fall (before we started dating, go figure) but I am transferring back next semester. In the mean time, we're four hours apart. Either way, he was a good friend all last year and then I went through a really bad break up with my ex and the new boy really helped me through it and was my best friend through it all.

He'll be turning twenty on April 17th.
He likes anime but I'm not sure what shows and movies he has/watches/likes/whatever.
He's very very smart and loves math.
He's sort of a minimalist... he doesn't like clutter or unnecessary things, but he has trinkets around his room that have significance to him.
He's very weird, very random, and we have a TON of fun together.
He's a photographer.
He loooooves cats, especially mine, but is VERY allergic to them.

Basically: I want something cheap, but nice. I do have a ton of crafty supplies around though, and I get a pretty good discount at work. I'd like to buy him something as well as make him something. I can knit, sew, bake, and do all kinds of other really random crafty things. I also would like at least a little part of it to be something to get him through the final stretch of school since we won't be seeing each other really between his birthday and finals week (almost a full month). I was thinking maybe make a doll of me so he could have that to cuddle with instead of pretending I'm his pillow  I don't want to do a pillowcase for him, though, cause for some reason he is picky about his sheets AND I don't want to freak out his mom (he commutes to school so he lives at home for now), who thinks we're a little too serious too soon. We're veryy mushy but haven't really done much in regards of gift exchange. I have bought him a few DVDs and given him cute little notes and things like that. He did give me one gift, for valentine's day, which was a valentines card written on a lunch tray (don't ask, long story, but it was VERY cute and sentimental) and two tshirts that I really love and wear all the time.

Help?? And sorry for the essay. I'm wordy, I know.

That site there has a ton of cake toppers, and even some that you can buy the figures seperately and they fit together. The pricing is steep for some, but a lot are on sale (under $20) and the "individual" ones are about 15 dollars each I think. Hope that helps and congratulations!

Or could you somehow patch up the old one so it doesn't fall apart?  Put a new lining in, sew any holes up, that sort of thing?
