5  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / easy and great grocery bag tut on: July 13, 2008 06:16:09 PM
I figured out a way I can have a really easy grocery bag without all the material and work. I found that the other grocery bag patterns use a lot of material and is also a lot of work (Not that I have anything against that bag I made a few of them but it is just too much work for me haha).

start off with a half of a meter of fabric or two fat quarters I measured mine out the second one I made was 19 1/2cm  by 17 cm, you should have a good size strip of material left over this will be for the handles.

then I sewed  the two side seams with right sides together

you can't really tell in this picture but believe me they are sewed together.

then turn your material with rights sides facing out and press.
Fold side seams in 3 inches on both sides, pin in place and press.

sew the bottom seam and trim them fairly close to the stitching

turn the bag inside out and sew the bottom again, this allows extra support for the bottom because the seam is covered.

with right sides still together hem the top 2 1/2 inches then press under the raw edge. The hem at the top will be 1 1/2 inches when done.
for some reason I did not take a picture of this part. When I make some more then I will update my tutorial. once the top of the bag is hemmed it is time  to put some handles on. now once Again I am sorry but I didn't take any pictures of this but it is a normal bag handle
what I did was once I measured the bag part I took the rest of the material and thats what I used as the handle.  I pressed the raw edges under and folded the handle lenght wise  and sewed up that edge of the strap.
I placed my straps where I liked them on at the top of the bag and sewed them in a box shape with an X in the middle.
here is the finished bag.

I hope this helps you out. This is my first tutorial so go easy on me  Wink I hope you like these bag as much as I do the best part of them is that there is no extra material!

8  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / matching wallet! on: April 01, 2008 09:52:15 AM
Here is a wallet that I made that goes with the clutch that I had posted yesterday. I haven't made many wallets yet but I think this one will be my favorite ! I love it ! I made a couple of credit card slots and a money holder and it has a Velcro closer although I would have liked to have used one of those metal ones anyways here it is

here is the inside

9  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / some bags that I have been working on on: March 31, 2008 05:51:26 PM
here are some bags thats I had just finished. The first one is a simple tote bag with a stenciled pic and the second one is a clutch that I made freehand with inspiration from many little purses on this site. I love this fabric but I couldn't figure out what to do with it so I finally found something  Cheesy

I liked how it turned out but I am worried it is a little large to be a clutch what do you guys think should I put some straps on it?!?
