Wow. Just wow.

I've done the Roumanian blouse with good results-- I don't know about other patterns, but that one seemed like there were a lot of ways to do the project, depending on your skill level.

Those are awesome!  How did you cut the ping pong balls open? I have been using a hacksaw to start mine, and then scissors once I have a little hole going...  but there must be a better way.

Nice work! I did that same pattern a while back in green and gold-- I like how it looks in pink, too.  Smiley

I love it! Where did you find the pattern for it?
6  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Vintage Craft Projects / Re: Why the 80s should not be brought back... on: February 14, 2006 06:37:35 AM
heh, I wore decorated sweatshirts like that as a kid, too. Perhaps that's why I'm unable to fully appreciate them-- I'm still recovering from the trauma  Wink

From Erica Wilson's 1982 "Needlework to Wear" book:

This project is called the "popcorn pullover." See how cute she looks in it? With those hunched shoulders (or are those shoulder pads) and hands jammed into her pockets? She lit out for the dressing room at a dead run the second that picture was snapped. Much as I love Erica Wilson... (shudders).

From the same book, fun with stud setters:

caption: "Make a wrapped and studded BROW BAND and abeautifully decorated SWEAT SHIRTS with the help of a stud setter."

...but what possessed her to put a LACE COLLAR on a sweatshirt? Oh, wait. It was the 80s. Nevermind.
8  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Mooninite pillow-- my first patchwork project! on: December 27, 2005 04:51:18 PM

I just finished this today-- a late Christmas present for a friend, and my first-ever attempt at patchwork piecing (which is way more fun than I thought it would be-- maybe next time I'll try it with triangles!). I stenciled Igniknot and Err, so...  simple project, but so very gratifying.

9  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Re: Pinstripes + kanzashi = messenger bag on: November 27, 2005 05:29:55 PM
very cute!
what kind of interfacing did you use so it wasn't as floppy as the other one?

A woven fusible interfacing, plus it was a fairly heavy fabric to begin with. The bag I copied it from was silk, with no interfacing at all, so any reinforcement would have been an improvement   Smiley

Look what I made! (dances happy dance around her sewing machine).

I drafted the pattern from a bag somebody gave me last year (but which I never use, because it is too floppy), and used the fabulous kanzashi tutorials by Beastbunny http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=24944.0 and spillyjane http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?board=14;topic=25125.5

Now all I need is a good tutorial on attaching linings neatly...
