Thank you, habitat-lady!

spurtiic, your comment crackd me up. Hot glue burns?!? Uh, yeah. I can sympathize.  Tongue Cheesy At one point, I totally gave up; I couldn't do anything with my hands for about a week. I was gluing one ornament in particular (I didn't realize it was foil  Huh ), and it burst into a million pieces while I was pushing it in the styrofoam.  Shocked Needless to say, I got a shard of foil stuck in my finger ... and just for kicks, I guess, the hot glue decided to try to keep it in there. Ouch!!!

But no worries. I'm feeling better now.  Wink Cheesy

Here are a few of the wreaths I promised I'd post. I think I'm gonna take a little break now and work on some other things. By a little break, I mean probably a week.  Cheesy

Here's the "Asian-inspired" one (I was inspired when I saw black Christmas ornaments. Yeah, just don't ask   Tongue ) :

Here's the Valentine's (my anniversary!!) wreath:

And (because I just couldn't help myself), a St. Patty's Day wreath:

2  A new spin on a time-honored holiday decoration in Winter Holidays by ragstorichesart on: December 10, 2008 09:47:29 AM
I love nutcrackers. But I'm not a fan of the traditional colors with which many of them are painted. I have four or five nutcrackers that I haven't put out in a few years since they don't match my decor ... or really my wacky style in general. But I hated to see them just lying there in a box, waiting until next year ... when I probably wouldn't display them ... AGAIN! Since it *is* the season of giving and all ( Wink ), I decided to give these guys new life, with a little paint, some yarn and clay, a sprinkle or 80 of glitter ... and *a lot* of style!   Grin And now, the two completed nutcrackers are proudly displayed, front and center, on my mantel. I can't wait to finish the others!

This is a great way to recycle old, worn-out nutcrackers. I'd love your feedback, as always!

Thank you so much!

HHjamie: Pink and red. Peppermints. Candy Canes. Valentine's Day! You could keep *that* wreath out for months!! I love that idea!   Grin

So, I was watching the Grinch the other day (one of my all-time favorites), and got another wild hair to use up more of my ornaments. So, here's my newest wreath ... Grinch-y style!  Cheesy

5  Wreaths that are knit ... I mean *fit* ... for the nifty knitter 12/10: NEW PICS in Winter Holidays by ragstorichesart on: December 02, 2008 07:08:43 AM
Here is my "latest and greatest" in wreath making. I used a styrofoam wreath form, and just started working my way around ... with lots of hot glue. These things take *tons* of Christmas ornaments -- and *many* hours of gluing.  Cheesy

The "knitting needles" were made from chopsticks and wooden doll heads.

These are really a lot of fun to make, and I think they turn out so cool. I might have found a new favorite pasttime ... at least for another month or so. Of course, these could be displayed year-round. That's another thing that I think makes 'em so cool.

Without further ado ...

Thank you guys so much. I prefer the jewel-tone colors, too, klippyklip.  Wink

agrafik, yes, I used a styrofoam ring as the base. And hot glue. Lots and lots and lots of hot glue.  Cheesy

I'm going to post another thread of wreaths that I've made this week. They're kinda different, so I want to separate them from this thread. Check them out, won't you? I think they're my faves so far.

Meanwhile, here's another Christmas wreath that I made for my sister. She's a huge Carolina Tarheels fan (she graduated from there); thus, the colors ...

7  Don't be so shady! [IMG HEAVY] in Winter Holidays by ragstorichesart on: November 26, 2008 06:28:12 AM
I've spent the better part of the past few weeks creating a new line of my "Shady Ladies" (named for their "lampshade hats" for the holidays. I spent loads of time on these, handmaking gumdrop beads and peppermint candies from clay, etc. etc.

My husband made me promise that I wouldn't buy any new supplies, so I had to make do with what I had. That made me get awful creative! Heh.

They're sassy. And they're oh-so-loveable. Here they are:

8  These wreaths have balls! NEW WREATH pics added 12/2 on Page 2!! in Winter Holidays by ragstorichesart on: November 26, 2008 06:16:38 AM
So, these were kind of accidents. I recently made a large wreath like these to hang above my mantel, then I planned to accent that wreath with candle rings. One of my candle rings turned out great. These two, however, kept growing ... and growing ... and growing ... until they finally, well, turned into wreaths themselves. Talk about taking on a life of their own!!  Wink

I'd love your feedback on them.

And, as if I haven't already posted enough photos (but the others were just repeats, right?!?), here's my most recent and not-so-silly collage. Don't be disappointed. I'll get funny again real soon.  Cheesy
