3  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / mini book on: March 16, 2004 05:42:16 PM
the dimensions are 3x3
i cut out an opening for a little picture on the front panel... (the pic is one i took when i went to new york, i shrunk the size and printed it on photo paper)
i used spray adhesive and stuck it to the front panel.
the by hand cut each paper with a box cutter cause i was too lazy to go to kinkos and use there rotary cutters...
then punched a hole at the top of each page and held it together with a little screw thing that usually come with photo albums...

i got the idea when i visited the Museum of Jurassic Technology  http://www.mjt.org - which btw, if you live in the la area you should totally check it out. It's located in Culver City on Venice Blvd...

but anyway, in the bookstore they had handmade books of different styles and sizes and i thought i could do that!!!
so i did... Smiley

so i bought this shirt maybe 2 years ago or so... but i wore it only once and i have really wanted to try to make it into a purse...
i had a hard time with the straps cause i used the scrap fabric from the shirt so nothing would go to waste... but anyway... here it is::

5  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / fleece bag w/ leather patch on: February 25, 2004 01:51:53 PM
hey so this bag was sooo super cheap to make... the leather patch i made with my sizzix die cutter and sample leather fabric squares from ikea... and the fleece was remnants on sale for like 30 cents and the zipper i got for 10 cents at this little japanese tea pot store... anyway... the zipper was too long to go just along the top so i decided to sew along the side and i had never sewed a zipper to anything before (i usually have my mom do it when i get to that part... but she was asleep so i did it myself...) and i isn't that bad looking or so i think... 6  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / book journal on: January 06, 2004 11:53:16 AM
my sister and i made a writing journal last night. she wanted to go buy one but i had some stuff lying around from the thrift store and so we made one...

we took an old dr. suess book that i bought for $1 ripped out the pages, then ripped out the paper from a comp. notebook and tied a ribbon really tight around the paper and spine of the book... mod podged two pages to the inside cover to hide the part that says "this book belongs to" and viola! she has a new writing journal.

i will post pictures as soon as i can, but when i was on vacation i lost the cord that uploads pics from my camera to my computer.   Cry

8  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / sock snowman on: December 22, 2003 01:30:57 PM
this is a really fun and easy project... i know it is only a few days before x-mas and if you need a last minute gift this is perfect. but it is even good just for the wintry months.
you will need::
- a tube sock (with striped or colorful opening)
- rice (filling)
- assorted buttons (buttons and eyes)
- ribbon (scarf)
- hot glue gun
- needle & thread

what to do...
- turn sock inside out and fill with rice, twist the middle of the sock and tie off with a ribbon.
- fill top part with rice and sew opening shut.
- turn the top of the sock (striped part) over and hot glue down
- add buttons
- for the nose you could use a piece of orange felt and for the mouth small felt circles OR a sharpie?

enjoy!!
