1  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Gnomey Gnome Gnome...and Mushroom Hoopla on: March 06, 2014 06:53:23 AM
This hoopla was made by me for Watsonc7 in the OWS100.  It is probably one of the cutest things that I have ever created.

2  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Cloud Prince and His Purple Rain on: January 26, 2014 06:22:52 AM
If rainy days looked like this, we wouldn't get so upset about them.  Isn't he adorable?

3  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / A different kind of grumpy cat on: January 25, 2014 07:33:06 AM
Lately, I have been on a hoopla craze.  The only thing that has me on hold at the moment is a lack of hoops.  It is time to go on an embroidery hoop hunt!

Here is a hoopla that is inspired by Grumpy Cat, but not quite Grumpy Cat.  Grumpy's colorful cousin?  He is felt appliqud on a cotton background.

4  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects / Spiced Pumpkin Shandy and More Handmade Soap on: October 01, 2013 11:16:16 AM
This past week I made some new soap for an upcoming Octoberfest show that I am participating in.  I'm hoping they fly off of my table.

First up, Spiced Pumpkin Shandy, made with real pumpkin,  cinnamon essential oil, ground nutmeg and Leinenkugel's orange shandy:

This is the Lavender Cardamom Patchouli Stout, made with lavender and patchouli essential oils, ground cardamom and Guiness stout:

5  COOKING / Dessert / Triflin' Strawberry Banana Trifle on: May 27, 2013 04:36:04 PM
Oh my goodness!  This trifle was a huge hit at a Memorial Day gathering that I attended today.  It was a last minute, throw-whatever-you-have- in-your-kitchen together, kind of dessert.   Keeping this recipe to myself would be rude of me, so I am going to share.
Triflin' Strawberry Banana Trifle

1 pound cake*
Quart of strawberries
3 large bananas
7 oz tub of marshmallow creme
8 oz cream cheese
9.5 oz jar coconut curd
1/2 c. milk
1 tsp. pure vanilla extract

Cut pound cake into 1" cubes.  Slice washed strawberries and bananas into 1/4" thick pieces.  Set aside.
In a mixing bowl, whisk together marshmallow, cream cheese and coconut curd.  Add milk and vanilla and give a good whisk.  You should have a nice, pudding like consistency.  If your mixture is too thick, add a bit more milk.
Now you just layer your ingredients in a bowl(a trifle bowl is not necessary, any ol' bowl will do the job).  I started with the strawberries, then bananas, pound cake and coconut curd mixture.  Repeat layering until you have used your ingredients up.
Chill until ready to serve.

*pound cake can be homemade or store bought.

Anyone up for organizing another round of the childrens scavenger hunt swap.  I would be down for participating and possibly co-organizing.

9  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Agnus Is Her Name-Handmade Stuffie/Doll on: January 01, 2013 10:36:05 AM

This is Agnus.  I made her sometime in the fall.

I started with her face, using a wool/rayon blend felt.

Her body is made of cotton fabric.

I  just knew that she couldn't run around naked, so I added this crude sweater that I made from... A sweater.
Thanks for looking!
