1  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Sailor Moon on: June 04, 2010 12:45:05 PM
Hello!  Smiley

I have recently completed this doll for a swap member. It was a part of the Sailor Moon Warm Up Swap. (for an awesome crafter named Usagi-chan) Let me just say this, I love sailor moon! I have loved the show since late 1990s/ early 2000s. The show being the first anime for me, it will always hold a place in my heart. Well, when I saw the swap come up, I really wanted to be in it. But sadly, I couldnt at the time  Embarrassed  But!! When I saw an oppurtunity to angel for someone in the swap, I couldnt pass it up.  Smiley

Anyway, on to the doll. It was a pattern that I made up going along. I saw a few other crocheted sailor moons around the web, as well as on crafter, but they werent quite what i wanted to do. (I wanted something big headed, and just all around sweet looking) Needless to say, I love the way this came out!  Cheesy

With all that hair, she is definitely top heavy. But I couldnt deny her the signature hairstyle!  Tongue  This is my first crocheted doll. I've done a few cupcakes, a few animals, but never a human. haha

Enough talk! Tell me what you think!

...because Sailor Moon hangs out in trees... right? Right.  Wink

Isn't she cute?  Smiley  P.S. Her legs arent crooked, I just put her that way without realizing it  Roll Eyes

And another fun picture: A group shot of her and the other little critters I made her in the swap

Say "Cheesssseeeee"
2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / From nostalgia to protection. on: May 01, 2010 05:24:51 PM

I made a laptop bag this week! It started out as a navy blue pull-over sweatshirt that I bought in Utah when I was in 9th grade and my marching band was playing for the Paralymics. Since that time (all the way back in 2002), my family went through a break up, an eviction of our house, my father losing his job, my mom totaling the car, and 4 years of living in a motel. Fastforward to now and we have 3 cars, a house we have been settled in for over 4 years, and a much more stable crafter. =] (Actually it was because of living in a one room motel with 4 people that got me to want to start crafting, but that is a different story.)

Anyway, my older brother has been cleaning out our garage recently, and when I peaked in and saw this sweatshirt, I had to rescue it from the garbage! I did try wearing it, but it had holes and didnt do my curves any justice  Tongue

So I decided to turn it into an awesome/ unique laptop case! I'm a Mac girl all the way, and my baby is my 15 inch MacBook Pro. Everything I used for this project was from my stash. The straps were remnaits from a dress I made for my sis, the zipper was given to me from my aunt, and the interior was from a quilt I did a few years ago.

Inside: Each side is 4 layers of batting, and a piece of light blue flannel

On the back, with the bottom of the original sweatshirt, I added a velco-closed pocket for my charger.

Comments and Critiques ALWAYS welcome. I am still rather new to sewing, and I have never made a laptop bag before. What do you think?
3  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Motorcycle Swap? on: April 19, 2010 02:58:54 PM
Hey everyone,

Since its getting closer to summer for some of us, I was wondering if there would be an interest in a swap that is geared (pun slightly intended  Tongue) towards crafts about/ for motorcycles. Because what is better than dusting off that sweet motorcycle, after a long winter, and feeling the warm summer wind through your hair as you ride?

I saw that there was a theme idea posted about possibly a "Sons of Anarchy" to be incorporated in my motorcycle idea.

What do you guys think?
4  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Givers and Needers? on: March 31, 2010 12:09:38 PM
Is there interest in another Givers and Needers Swap?

I was wondering if there was any discussion through the grape vine about it.

I couldn't organize, but am looking to be a large Giver  Smiley
5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Simple Blue Dress on: March 05, 2009 01:20:35 PM
Just a simple blue dress. I'm new to clothing construction, so please be gentle  Smiley

I pulled it together in a few hours, and wore it to a show and tell for my speech class. All I made was the blue dress, all else was already owned. And yes, it is a little short, but I'm a shorty (5 foot even) so its not so bad.

PS. That IS NOT a nip peaking through in the brown cropped sweater. I'm not really sure what is making that. lol.  >.<

I was looking to see if this had been done before, but couldn't find one that was devoted to only spongebob.

Is anyone interested?

10  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Crafting for a Newborn? on: November 20, 2008 06:29:58 AM
Hi all!

I realized the other day that I have a bunch of supplies to craft for a newborn, but don't know anyone who is expecting. Does anyone know of a swap that I could craft for?

This has been moved to "new swap ideas"

I am not expecting, nor to I plan to be for many years. But I would love to craft for a baby ^_^

Does anyone want to start a swap for newborns?
