So, I decided I wanted to try my hand at a jointed art doll. Here's what I've come up with. This is Mirabelle. She stands about 18 inches tall. Her dress is made from an old pillow case. I love dragonflies! As always, made without the use of molds and my paper pulp is all my own recipe. You can see her stages on my blog if you want to have a peek!
8x10 acrylic and mixed media. I haven't done skulls in a while, but they used to be something I had to do a lot of! (I design guitar straps and it kinda goes with the territory). Anyhow, I love the symbolism in this one. Death and rebirth. Skulls are totally subjective. Read into them as you wish! That's what I like about them. They can be creepy, or they can just remind you of the circle of life.
Spooky Pooky and I decided to do a personal swap, and here's what I've come up with as per her requests. It's of herself and her fiance in her chosen wedding colours. And might I just add that I totally love that girl. She couldn't be more adorable and wonderfully unique!!!!
It was super hard to get a good pic of this painting. The scanner's not good because of the depth of the painting...the background gets blurry. Using the flash on the camera makes it lose detail...I needed to wait until there was the perfect amount of natural light! Anyhow, this doesn't capture how brilliant the colour is, but you get the idea. It's 8x10
