201  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / My half of a personal swap on: April 06, 2010 02:01:23 PM
EdelC and I did a swap. She's made me a poppet (yay!!) and I've done this painting for her. It's a little washed out in the straight on shot, but is more accurate in vibrancy in the angle shot. Hope she likes it! As always, I'm really nervous!!!!

202  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Dress-up time! on: April 06, 2010 06:35:17 AM
I initially made these costumess for Halloween, but they quickly turned into playtime fun costumes! They have lots of fun playing dress-up in these. These are my own patterns. They came out perfect the first try! I was pretty proud of these. There was a lot of sketching involved in these blueprints, and I was pretty impressed that I made no errors.
203  COOKING / Dessert / Left over Easter chocolate... on: April 05, 2010 10:16:27 AM
I don't know if baking goes in this category, but just thought I'd share this idea with you all. Since most of us have enormous amounts of chocolate left over, why not chop it up and use it as chunks in your baking? I'm baking a batch of white and milk chocolate chunk cookies right now!

Just a thought  Smiley
204  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Easter / Peeps bunting!! on: April 02, 2010 07:03:09 AM
I LOVE PEEPS!!!!!! I found this little bunting tutorial here: http://www.vanessachristenson.com/2010/03/guest-tutorial-blogger-dana-of-made.html . I used some yellow fleece that I had and handstitched mine rather than using my sewing machine, but they will turned out pretty cute, I think! Sorry about the pics, though. They don't depict the actual cuteness of the peeps!

205  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / A bunny for my daughter on: April 01, 2010 07:09:01 AM
Here's a little bunny for my daughter Sapphire (aka Sisi).

I used fabric from her old baby dress to line the ears, and I also hand-embroidered a little message for her:

The bunny's pretty big. Probably around 18 inches tall.

I added some nice big buttons just for fun...

I hope she likes it!

PS - it's my own pattern...I just fly by the seat of my pants most of the time. I'm not a fan of patterns. I'm not big on rules! lol
206  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Face in Brambles on: March 29, 2010 09:01:33 AM
All sorts of different media in this one. Gel medium, puffy paint, china marker, acrylics, oil pastels, gold leaf. Lots o' fun!

Thanks for looking!
207  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Easter / Really easy Easter Wreath on: March 28, 2010 08:50:02 AM
I found this great Easter wreath tutorial ( http://debbie-doodlings.blogspot.com/2010/03/at-it-again-more-easter-egg-wreaths.html ) and decided to give it a whirl. Super easy. You just cut out a cardboard circle and then use a hot glue gun to stick the plastic eggs on, fill it in with that shredded plastic stuff, add a bow, et voila! But since I don't even know the name for the shredded plastic stuff, it might be advisable for you to visit this tutorial...cuz she's a little better at explaining it than I am! lol
208  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Little Easter Chick on: March 27, 2010 06:04:54 AM
I found this pattern in Super Cute Crochet. I made a couple modifications, though. I changed the comb and knit a beak instead of using craft felt.
 Cheep cheep.

209  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / My first ever project! on: March 25, 2010 12:28:31 PM
I'm a knitter who's been wanting to learn how to crochet forever, so I learned how to crochet last week (well, I kinda knew how to do stitches but I never knew their names...not sure how that happened, but it did, and it made it impossible to follow a pattern). My friend's mom just sort of told me the names of the stitches. I went to the library and found the book Super Cute Crochet and set to work. Within two days, this pony was born. I must say...I'm pretty darn proud. Crochet shaping is so much easier than knitting shaping, and I think a little more effective. I think I've found a new addiction. (sigh - like I needed ANOTHER one!!!)

210  CANADA / Manitoba / Stitch N`Bitch Winnipeg! on: March 22, 2010 03:08:44 PM
I don`t know if this is in the right place or not, but I`ve organized a stitch n bitch group in the St. James/Unicity area of Winnipeg. We meet Wednesday nights from 7-9ish at the Daily Grind coffee house ( http://www.dailygrind.ca/Location.htm ). Open to anyone interested. We have knitters and crocheters! It's a great, quaint coffee house, complete with comfy couches!

Also, I've started a facebook group if you want to join!
