TOmorrow is my dd's 6th bday party. I've been working hard on it for the last couple of weeks. I finally got to make the cake...my favourite part!

I like everything to be handmade for my kids' parties...party favours included. Here are 18 pinwheel hair clips for the guests of my daughter's 6th birthday. I think it will look cute in the girls' summer hair styles!

I found this old table for $10 at an antiquey-kind of store. I saw potential in it. I didn't quite know what I wanted to do with it until it dawned on me that it was the same shape as a honeycomb, and so it became the Apis Mellifera table (Latin for honeybee).

ETA: Since the question has been asked, I guess I should mention that it was all hand painted (including the art). From start (sanding) to finish (varnish) the whole table took around 10-12 hours

I found this awesome table with these fantastic lines and it was so wonderful and WOODEN! lol I'm so tired of all that press board!

Anyhow, I knew I wanted it, and I knew I wanted it aqua...but it took me a little bit to figure out what I wanted 'art wise'. Since I'm on a HUGE bird kick right now (and as you can tell from previous posts of mine I also love trees) I went with this theme!

My friend's birthday dinner is tonight and she's a huge Nickelback fan (don't judge lol). I wanted to make something special for her. I started perusing online tutorials for sewing projects and stumbled across the website freeneedle.com. Wow. TONS of tutorials and patterns!! Anyhow, I came across this tutorial on there http://tousledday.blogspot.com.es/2012/05/stvarno-super-majica-ruffled-one.html and I decided that I wanted to make one of these for her. I took a trip to the local Goodwill to find some cool graphic t's that I may use. I thought, 'Wouldn't it be awesome if I found a Nickelback concert t!'. Lo and behold, I found one right away (ask and you shall receive - I just needed a little creative visualization). I also grabbed a plain grey t for the contrasting ruffles. Both t's together cost $3. I took them home, washed them, and got to work. I followed the tutorial except for the raw edge around the top. This, I encased in fold-over elastic for a better fit and durability. T-shirt jersey stretches too much to leave raw for a neck line if you ask me.

So there you have it! Easy project. Custom designed t-shirt in under and hour for $3!

I made the skirt from an old adult tank top. I made the white sash from another tank top and I also made the robin applique and added a lace trim around the bottom. The brown t-shirt was just an old one of hers that I revamped with a bow tie

So I took an old dress of mine and a long sleeved t-shirt that she had outgrown and turned it into a cool little dress for her. She wanted an asymmetrical hem line on the skirt, so I did it, but I would do it differently next time. Oh well...all learning curves, right? And she loves it, so that's all that matters!

My sweet little ginger loves these bandanas so I indulged her The awesome thing about it is that due to these awesome $.50 grab bags of fabric ends at Fabricland, I picked up a ton of different fabrics for a headband extravaganza!

I've been feeling a little glum lately. I thought it might help if I made myself a prezzie. So I made a bag with an embroidered drawing of me with a crown lol. The bag is fully lined and has a zippered pocket

I made a whole bunch of clothes for my daughter's Journey Girl (Canadian Toys R US brand, I think) for Christmas. I forgot to post them until now! There were more but I can't find the pics! They were all Liberty Jane pattern. I had fun making them, and I'm pretty sure she had fun receiving them
