231  Gypsy Woman - Make a Wish in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by FoxyBlue on: May 27, 2010 09:54:39 AM
What started out as a rescued piece of wood and newspaper became this Gypsy Woman. She's adorned with vintage jewelry that I found at thrift stores and modeled with newspaper and plaster of paris strips. She's extremely mixed media because I like to believe that old Gypsy fortune tellers were very ecclectic. She's a piece of wall art that doubles as a wishing well...

232  My Mama made a Mushroom in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by FoxyBlue on: May 26, 2010 07:14:44 PM
Cute lil thing, isn't he? She never wants to post pics of any of her work, but I wanted to show it off for her.

He's papier mache, homemade paper pulp, and mixed media. Around 7.5" tall.

233  3D dragonfly wall art ****DREAM**** in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by FoxyBlue on: May 26, 2010 05:32:18 PM
I'm big on texture (as most of you know) and on sculpture as well. I really like to combine the two as often as possible. This 8x11.5" dragonfly art is made out of a plank of wood (found in someone's garbage...I have no shame), some plaster of paris gauze strips (is that what they're called??), spackle, paint, and a whole lot of glitter! I'll be drilling a hole in the back for hanging Smiley

234  Turning plastic lids into art frames... in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by FoxyBlue on: May 25, 2010 01:27:51 PM
I looked at this black plastic lid,  lying in a heap on my craft room floor and thought...FRAME! So here's a a little sketch framed in a lid. I just wrapped it in ribbon and adorned it with buttons. It was simple, and didn't make a whole big mess...which is something unusual for me.

235  Gone fishin' - a birthday prezzie for my pops in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by FoxyBlue on: May 17, 2010 08:16:33 PM
My dad's the guy who can buy himself anything he wants, so he's hard to buy for...therefor I make him things. Here's a papier mache fish. He has a newspaper ball armature and is detailed with drywall compound. Kinda slapped together. I just used a stick as a fishing rod and some wire for the hook with a polymer worm. Hope he likes him! He's got hooks on his back and the fishing rod also has hooks. He's for hanging at our cottage.

I was asked to shoot a wedding. Here are a couple pics I took. They're fun. My couple was very playful which made the shoot a LOT more enjoyable!

Here's another mixed media piece. Lots and lots of glorious texture. Even has  real jewels in the hair band.

Thanks for looking!

238  With Arms Wide Open - 24x30" mixed media in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by FoxyBlue on: April 22, 2010 11:10:46 AM
A young father had me paint this for his daughter on her 5th birthday. Due to circumstances beyond his control, he is unable to see his daughter as much as he would wish. He wants her to know how much he loves her, even though he's not around, so he had me paint this as a token of his love to her. I am honoured that he would have me paint something so dear to his heart. Such a lovely man.

I was filled with emotion while painting this. I wanted it to be perfect. I made his hands slightly bigger than I normally would because I wanted her to know that her dad's love is strong and will always take care of her. I made the sky brighter around her head, and it has a pearlized sheen to symbolize that she is the light in his life, his angel. The accessory in her hair is symbolic of a halo.

I hope you all enjoy looking at it as much as I enjoyed painting it!

239  Another page in my art journal! in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by FoxyBlue on: April 13, 2010 02:08:36 PM
I'm having lots of fun and learning a lot about myself with this art journaling. I find it to be so much fun! Anyhow, the page on the left is not a drawing of mine. I printed it off etsy. Sometimes I'll find something particularly inspiring and have to print it. This is just such a piece. I don't know what it is about her, but I really like her. Her hands, her face, her hair.

My art is on the right. I've used a whole lot of mixed media in this. Gold leaf, cadbury egg wrapper, glitter, paint, pencil crayons, ball point pen, black ink...

I've taken to 'laminating' my pages with packing tape so that they don't stick together. I am having way too much fun with these are journals, and I always feel a lot more settled after having done a page...

240  I started an art journal... in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by FoxyBlue on: April 10, 2010 07:28:44 PM
and it was SO. MUCH. FUN!!!!!!!!!

Ok, so I spent the day in a gym watching my husband ref my kids' jiu jitsu tournaments (ok, well he didn't ref my kids, because that would be a conflict of interest, but he reffed the tournament, ok? Geez...)

Anyhow...it was a loooooooooooooooong day, so I pulled a little journal and a pen out of my purse and started sketching. This little lady on the left is what I came up with. When I got home, I got out my art supplies and just kinda went to town. It was super fun and really therapeutic. I've tried the art journal thing before without much success, but now I think I could get into it...

Mind the picture quality...they were taken at night and using a flash washed them out...
