2  Hot air balloon vintage dresser upcycle - before and after - pic heavy in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by FoxyBlue on: May 07, 2015 12:25:08 PM
I found this vintage dresser at the end of my neighbour's driveway. It took me two days to drum up the courage to go and grab it (what if someone saw me? My cover as a dumpster diver would be blown!). I finally did, though. And in the middle of the day. Go me! Cover blown.

Anyhow, for some reason, I saw this one painted aqua (big shocker there) and with hot air balloons on it. So, I got to work...like...right away...because if my husband came home and saw that I hauled in more garbage, he would be pissed. I had to let him know that I was getting straight to business.)

I sanded, I primed, I painted (with homemade chalk paint) and then I got to do the fun stuff. Draw and paint the balloons! And then once I was done that, I would start distressing by sanding and with glaze, and you know what? I  am pretty happy with it! Cheesy

Here's a group of things I've done the last few days (minus the flying pig lol)

And here is the 'before'!!

3  Hand painted fox chair - from ugly vintage to awesome (IMHO lol) in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by FoxyBlue on: May 03, 2015 06:05:46 PM
I purchased this old, ugly chair in October with plans of reupholstering the seat part. I even bought some really beautiful, expensive fabric with which to do so. However, so much time passed, and I found little projects here and there that could use that fabric, and lo and behold, little by little it dwindled away to nothing. So I was left to either use scraps of what I had, or paint the seat. I chose to go with the latter...and I also couldn't find any staples for my staple gun, either, sooo...paint it was.

I painted a cute little fox and polka dots and gave the chair new life with some beautiful, fresh, aqua paint!

Hope you like it!

And this is how ugly it was before. Eeeewwwwwwwww.

4  Sand sculptures I made! in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by FoxyBlue on: March 18, 2015 09:39:19 AM
I'm visiting my sister in Florida and everyone obviously wants to go to the beach. A kind of crazy thing about me is that
I have a sand phobia...so I decided that the best way to kick its ass would be to get down and dirty with it....by making sculptures! I built
Them in front of the Tradewinds Resort and they featured the mermaid on their facebook page Smiley

(I will post the mermaid  one later...my phone is only allowing me to upload the dragon!)

I had people from all over coming up and snapping pictures and having pictures taken with their kids and stuff. It was fun!!

6  Working on my children's book illustrations... in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by FoxyBlue on: January 13, 2015 12:04:58 PM
My whole life, as far back as I can remember, I have wanted to write and illustrate my own kids' books. I wrote one last year...and lost it...so I rewrote it. Here's an image from it. But don't be deceived. It isn't what you think! I  don't think we need another Disney-Damaged generation of young girls lol

At any rate, here's the first illustration I've done for it (although it doesn't come first in the story)

Done on water colour paper with inktense pencils and ink Smiley

7  3 new entries from my gratitude/art journal in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by FoxyBlue on: January 13, 2015 12:00:21 PM
So as I've mentioned in another post, my family and I have a nightly ritual of gratitude/art journaling. I feel like it is really helping us all. Especially my 15 year old son who has also gotten into meditating with me. I am watching him transform before my eyes!! He is embracing it with arms wide open and our relationship is better than it has ever been. We discuss meditations and energy, and gratitude...it's amazing!

At any rate, here are my three entries as of late....

8  Gratitude project - art journal entry for today! in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by FoxyBlue on: January 07, 2015 11:20:22 AM
I've recently started a new spiritual path. Working in healing and making myself an all around better person. This includes meditation, affirmations, and being in a constant state
Of gratitude. I've also started waking my 15 year old ds 20 mins early every day and preparing guided meditation sessions for him and it is working wonders. He is starting to see a difference in his world already.

So a big thing for me is a gratitude journal. In the opposing page there will be a space for me to write all of today's blessings. You can't be miserable when you focus on all the good in your life! This gratitude project involves my whole family...right down to my 7 yo dd. Every night, I will set up our gratitude journal station where we will all work on our journals. Creativity AND thankfulness. Sounds good to me!

So here is today's entry. I heard the affirmation on the law of attraction radio podcast (can't remember which one - and a beautiful window box has always given me such warm feelings. I'm happy with how it turned out!

9  Elf quote Christmas sweater - Bye Buddy hope you find your dad in Winter Holidays by FoxyBlue on: December 18, 2014 06:02:26 AM
My son has ugly sweater day at school today. It was a bit of a scramble with making cake pops and doll clothes all day, but I managed to pull something together. I wanted to make more snowflakes (but my hands got tired cutting through all the layers) and I wanted to make more paper (read vinyl) garland, but I got bored lol.

At any rate...he likes it. We love Buddy the Elf in this house lol

10  30 foot Toronto Maple Leaf mural VERY PIC HEAVY!! in Interior Decorating: Completed Projects by FoxyBlue on: December 13, 2014 11:07:46 AM
I recently had someone ask me to do a Toronto Maple Leaf mural for her rec room as a Christmas present for her kids...and it was 30 feet long. Yikes! I said, "Of course!" but inside I was pretty nervous lol. However, I do love a good challenge!

So...put together what I wanted to do in photoshop so that I could plan it all out and I went from there. I decided to start on the right hand side of the biggest wall...because...well...why not? I am not a hockey fan, so what I didn't realize was that the first guy I painted was a dud of a hockey player lol. I painted over him and he became Mats Sundin. I then moved on to Doug Gilmour, then Joffrey Lupul, then Phil Kessel, and last but not least, Wendel Clark...and then I proceeded to add her kids into the crowd. SHe told me all of the ads she wanted on the boards, and then that she wanted a time clock and some Leafs paraphernalia on the end wall. I still have to paint the hockey lines on the floor and ads along the wall facing the time clock, but since I have been working on this for months, I'm excited to have something that is quasi finished. It has been a serious labour of love. At times very daunting. Definitely the biggest mural I've ever done Smiley I wish the pictures gave it justice but it's so big that it is hard to get it all in to one shot!
