1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Slouchy-collared sweatshirt on: August 28, 2007 06:14:55 PM
I was browsing around the forums a couple of weeks ago and came across the amazing work of Joodito (please search for her stuff if you haven't seen it already!). She put high collars on my brain, and they haunted me everywhere from Anthropologie to the costume design in Stardust, so I decided to try my hand at one.

I made this out of a 4XL men's sweatshirt I got for $3 at this store called Roses in North Carolina (which I've just moved out of  Sad ) I didn't take a before picture (cursing self) but believe me, you would have been amazed. The body of thing was - I measured - ONE YARD wide. Since the armholes were very rudimentary, the shoulders actually came down to my elbows when I wore it!

Anyway, the only seam remaining is the shoulder. The collar has been made (haphazardly) from one of the trimmed sides. I had to add the cuff to the sleeves because, miraculously, the original sleeves were slightly too short when joined in the manner shown. The dimensions were just based off of other garments I had, allowing for ease when worn over other clothes.

The loop closures for the buttons were made with braided yarn, and that's embroidery floss embellishing the edges.
