1  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Selling Crafts on Etsy.com / Are you open to trading in your etsy shop? on: January 22, 2009 11:02:31 AM
Just curious if anyone is open to trading in their etsy shop?  So far I have done one trade with an etsy seller and it went very well.  Pros? Cons?

Are you open to being convo'd about a trade?
2  KNITTING / Projects from the Stitch 'N B**ch Books by Debbie Stoller / Going Out With A Bag on: October 12, 2008 10:36:13 PM
Here's mine.  I used a vintage scarf to line the inside and I couldn't afford swarovski crystal beads so I used cheaper glass beads:

3  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Marilyn Make-up Bag on: October 12, 2008 10:31:02 PM
So, it's a little lopsided and the zipper I bought really doesn't fit but I made a make-up bag and named it after Marilyn Monroe. I used a vintage scarf for the lining and vintage glass sew on beads for decoration. I also lightly felted it.  Here are some pictures my husband took for me:

4  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Tips for Participating in Craft Fairs / Festival Entry Fee question on: September 24, 2008 06:30:24 PM
So, I was going to sell my wares at an upcoming pumpkin patch festival but they are charging $100 per booth, does that seem unusually high to any of you?

It's hard for me to justify paying that, especially when I have only made 1 sale so far...

5  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Bobby Pin Blanks on: August 12, 2008 07:58:22 AM
Does anyone know a good wholesale place to buy an army of bobby pin blanks?  The ones with the metal "pad" so you can glue things on them?  I cannot find them-for the life of me....
6  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Making Kitty Ears on a Helmet on: June 12, 2008 11:15:36 AM
I'm about to play my first roller derby bout and my skate name is "Rumble Kittie".  I have been racking my brain on how to make some cat ears to put on my helmet.  They would need to be tough enough that they wouldn't break or fall off if (when) I get knocked down and they also should not be able to hurt someone if (when) I fall into them.  Any ideas?  I want something better than just felt...
7  COOKING / Dessert / White Chocolate Candy Melts on: March 20, 2008 08:39:47 AM
We are doing a Day of The Dead pre-bout party for my roller derby league on Sat.  I have sugar skull molds that I have made white chocolate skulls in and decorated them with icing.  I used the white candy melts from Michael's.

Two questions to make them better:
1. Gel icings never dried and the cookie icing sets are really too bulky.  Should I buy smaller tips for tube icings?

2. How do you make that white "chocolate" taste better without losing the whiteness??
8  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Discussion and Questions / Pattern Sizes for Little Ones ??? on: March 18, 2008 10:36:36 PM
I want to make my 19 month old some light spring/summer dresses.  I'm having trouble understanding sizes on the patterns as they don't say "View A: 18-24 months" or some other such easy language.  Can anyone offer some advice on how to pick the right pattern size for itty bitties?
9  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Embroidered stocking question on: December 02, 2007 04:26:29 PM
Hi all-

I really love Martha Stewart's keepsake stocking idea. Where you have a blank stocking and then create a new felt character every year-something that your child likes.  Anyway, I want to embroider my little ones name on the top of it it.  Besides just plain white cotton, what other fabric would be good for embroidering?  I  was thinking of a white fleece, is that really difficult to embroider on?  Or white corduroy?

Thanks for any help.  Smiley
10  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Costumes to go with a Little Lamb on: September 07, 2007 10:32:45 PM
My one year old has the cutest lamb costume and I'm trying to figure out something that my husband and I could wear to go with it.  So far, I have thought of Little Bo Peep-but I hate all those cheesy adult costumes for that.  Also, Mary and Jesus. Lamb of God...I don't know.  If I was Mary, I'd want something with a big sacred heart on the front of it or something.  Any ideas?
