1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Sew U Built by Wendy? on: November 16, 2012 05:25:15 PM
I'd heard these are good books and I'd love to see if anyone's made anything from them? How do the patterns look finished?
Were they easy to follow? Thoughts?

only 3 of em are a size 4, we're all turning 19 this year (!!!!!!!!) so they may end up being bday dresses! i'm not quite sure really Tongue i kind of like having them in my basement and just looking at them and thinking "wow, i am awesome!"

thank you all Smiley
it was weird how it happened, i started embellishing one thinking about cris's party the next week and then i just held it and was like "OMG! ITS CRISTINA!" and it rolllllled Smiley
the black dress and unification is one of my favorite parts too. i like how it shows all the possibilities that can come from one thing.

Hey everyone!
so, i did these a while ago (like before i went on a big europe extravaganza while) for my schools doll themed fashion show- i did a fashion business diploma program that was well... yeah. this was in the final show, i had to pay to get in here Tongue
i found these lovely fabrics and ran with it. each dress is inspired by one of my friends, kind of like what they would wear while playing dress up. I made all the patterns and did all the sewing. It's basically the same black dress just embellished up differently.
all the photo's were taken by jeff chan, the hair and makeup by John Casablanca's Grads.

this dress is inspired by my friend Jen. We've been friends for 15 years. she's slowly transforming from a pop diva into a rocker chick, and this dress was all about being sweet and girly, but still having that kinda "grrr" edge.
the ruffles extend all the way to the back zipper.

This one is inspired by my friend Annie. She loves 19th century literature so I wanted to do something kind of gowny. I added a pleat in there too to make it all schoolgirl nerdy Tongue The model, Kelly, is the first model I ever worked with on my wicked themed shoot. (theres a post about it wayyy back) she's amazing, and she's a redhead like annie Smiley

This one is the Cristina. Cris is like the classiest girl, ever. period. she's all like traditional ladylike beauty. she's also the shy one, but good shy, not like creepy shy.

the next one is the Ashley. Ashley and I are no longer friend because she decided to go clubbing with her sleazebag ex boyfriend instead of coming to my fashion show. She has also cancelled on many things prior so it was kind of a last straw thing, not me overreacting.
anyway, it sucks because I LOVE THIS DRESS! the bow is just SO cute! gaahh, it gets me to be all girly like

This one is the Florian. Flo is like... She's one of those people where everything that comes out of their mouth is just the BEST THING EVER! she's so awesome, so like... sparkly! so I wanted to give her lots of sparkle close to her face to accentuate her gorgeous smile which I am harsh jealous of Tongue
The thing was originally going to be a neck ruffle, but somehow this happened instead. take note that none of these dresses were really planned, they all happened in the 2 nights before they were due in and are therefore an afterproduct of my odd mind and lots and lots of coffee.

so there ya go. I have to sit at my boring office job tomorrow and will literally be checking back every 30 seconds looking for comments, so please please leave them Wink

9  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Selling Crafts on Etsy.com / taxy stuff in B.C. Canada on: June 30, 2009 03:15:53 PM
hi Everyone!
So, I have my etsy account and my shop set up, but here's the problem..... I'm terrified to put anything up because I don't know anything about taxes.
Does anyone know if I need a business liscence or what steps, if any, I need to take? And advice of any sort about selling in Vancouver is so welcome it hurts a little.
