21  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Doctor Who - 9 and Rose watercolor embroidery on: September 23, 2013 01:17:38 PM
I saw this beautiful artwork a few weeks back of the 9th Doctor and Rose in a scene from the episode "The Unquiet Dead" http://hailleypete.deviantart.com/art/I-believe-this-is-my-dance-349409866. I loved it and knew I had to embroider it.

It started off as a crayon tinted embroidery, but halfway through I decided that the doctor's jacket needed to be darker and crayons weren't working. So, I decided to color it in with black marker which would have been okay but I had used a mark b gone pen to draw the picture on and it needs water to erase the blue marks. Roll Eyes I finished the hoop up and then tried to carefully remove the marks without making the marker run, well of course that didn't work out. Some of the blue marks would not go away and the marker ran in a few places and messed it up.  Roll Eyes So, I thought I'd try something different since it was already messed up. I pulled out some watercolors, painted over everything except the jacket and ended up with this. I am so pleased with how it turned out and I think I may try using watercolors with embroidery again in the future.

Thanks for looking!
22  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Supernatural "I watch the bees" hoop on: September 23, 2013 12:50:27 PM
I finished up my work early this month and I've decided to take a week off and make some things for myself that I've been wanting to do. My first project is a hoop of Castiel of Supernatural based on the awesome artwork from this shirt http://www.redbubble.com/people/thetrickyowl/works/9338517-i-watch-the-bees.

It is a 8" hoop, I crayon tinted it and decided to go with similar colors for the outlines instead of black like I've done with hoops in the past. I really love how it turned out.

23  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 90 ENTRIES / Time Lord in a Bottle on: September 09, 2013 08:17:11 PM
This is partially inspired by the ship in a bottle kit that was posted here by Helena Puck. I made a little cross stitched 10th Doctor on plastic canvas a few weeks back and was unsure what to do with him and then I remembered the ship in a bottle. So here is my Time Lord in a bottle. He is about 1" tall and the bottle is a little over 2". Hope you like him.

26  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / 11th Doctor, Amy Pond and Rory the Roman amigurumis on: July 19, 2013 05:44:19 PM
Some new Doctor Who amigurumis I made. I remade the 11th Doctor yet again. I've always had a hard time getting his hair where I'm 100% satisfied but I think this is as close as I'm going to get. I also made Amy and Rory in a smaller size and in their The Pandorica Opens/The Big Bang outfits. They are about 6" tall. Thanks for looking! Grin

27  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / The Doctors & their TARDIS on: July 19, 2013 04:53:54 PM
I'm working on a cross stitch hoopla wall of my favorite characters and quotes, so last night I stitched up a new hoop for it to relieve some stress. It is the 9th, 10th and 11th Doctor with their TARDIS on a 3.5"x5" hoop.  Thanks for looking! Grin

28  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Supernatural & The Walking Dead mini hoops on: July 13, 2013 01:41:45 PM
I finally made myself some more hoops. I used some 3.25" hoops and stitched up Castiel and Dean (Supernatural) with a couple of my favorite quotes. I also stitched up a Daryl Dixon (The Walking Dead) hoop with one of my favorite quotes. They were quick and fun to do. Thanks for looking!

29  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Dystopian/Post-apocalyptic swap? on: June 26, 2013 03:08:54 PM
Would there be any interest in a Dystopian/Post-apocalyptic themed swap? I know there has been a survival and fashion swap in the past but I was thinking a swap of film/tv/book related things, for example: The Walking Dead, The Hunger Games, Jericho, Survivors Repo! The Genetic Opera, Planet of the Apes, The Postman, Shaun of the Dead, Mad Max, The Stand, Zombieland and 12 Monkeys.

30  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Hunger Games bracelets on: June 17, 2013 07:58:51 PM
I've been slowly but surely buying beads and charms here and there to make bracelets and finally got enough to make a loaded charm bracelet. I made a Hunger Games themed one for chughes225 in the IYP swap.

The charms are:

a flower for Primrose; tv for the Hunger Games; parachute; wine glass for Haymitch; cake for Peeta; paint palette for Peeta; Mockingjay; anchor for Finnick; tree for the Katniss/Rue; "sugar cube" for Finnick; bow and arrow for Katniss/Gale; pearl for Peeta; music note for Rue; "tracker jacker"; scissors for Cinna; berries

I also used big black beads to represent coal for district 12 and the orange, red, and yellow beads for the "girl on fire".

I also made matching cake earrings to represent Peeta and also because chughes225 makes beautiful cakes. And also a simple corded Mockingjay bracelet. Thanks for looking!  Grin
